This thread illustrates we don't lack for gun shows in north Texas - there's almost always one in an hour's drive every weekend - and quite often two.  That doesn't mean a given location or organization will last forever.

The old Militaria shows at the Convention Center were lots of fun. Dallas politics finally ruined that show and everything seemed to move over to Market Hall.
What will it take for this show to come back to its former glory?
The principal issue w/ the DACA show is Obama is no longer in office.  Premier used the Obama years to get big and run multiple shows across the state every weekend; DACA got fat and happy.

Under Trump, DACA is getting lean and that is not a happy process.  Audits are being demanded, so we'll see where that goes.

I think 5 shows a year is sustainable, but they have to be promoted heavily to attract vendors and visitors, and the show may already be in its death spiral.

For Market Hall to fill back up into both halls would likely take a Democratic president.

Last time I went it was about 3/4 the size of the Premier show that is in another 3 weeks. I haven't been to one in about 6 months though. I would choose it over the DACA show.

Exactly.  I know a vendor that chooses Waco over the DACA show.  Sometimes you can snag free parking at Will Rogers in the back close to the Arboretum.  And Ye Olde Bull & Bush is just down the street, as is the Railhead BBQ.

It was a ghost town. Very fewer people, nothing notable for sale. I bought a jalapeo and cheddar sausage from the jerky people and nothing else.

ETA -And bb will tell you that I spend money at every show.

Wow.  Premier is crushing the competition.

Gun show attendance is a leading indicator of political diciness, so while I love a good crowded gunshow, the lack of attendance @ the minor FW show & DACA indicates we're winning.

It's a perverse indicator, like service at McDonald's.

From a friend of mine who will be there:  The Denison show is put on by the promoter that is usually at the Sherman show. The mall that they usually have the show at increased the price for the space they usually set up in and they moved the show about five miles up the road to the  Hilton Garden Inn Denison. Much nicer venue. It may also attract a few more tables.

This venue has attracted some of the bigger dealers in the past but there have been issues with other promoters and them not getting the turnout expected. YMMV.

The Denison show was small but an interesting mix of stuff. A few AR's and parts but lots of old 22's and old revolvers plus the usual collection of bolt action hunting rifles. The oddity of the day was a young Hispanic dude with a Calico 9mm pistol.  I haven't seen one of those in years.

BTW: the Hilton is a way better venue than the old Mall location.

I was there from 2 to 4. Most vendors looked to be at full retail pricing on guns, some retail +. I bought a knife (50% retail). The venue is great.

The Paris show is 90 min from the Big Town show at the most and it's for a worthy cause
it supports the Museum of the Caddo and it's once a year, drive out, have lunch at the 107, BurgerLand,  Jaxx Gourmet Burgers
Torres Mochas or Red Bear's . The crew at the show make a GREAT Red Beans and cornbread for $3-$4

I'll be there representing the Texas State Rifle Assoc...
