Go shooting in the 100+ heat or go look at guns I have no current budget for.

Yeah, I blew my new gun wad on Tuesday.  Then spent $700 on vehicle repairs today.  No shows for me for awhile.

Just come out for dinner afterwards, around 5:30.  Shoot me a text tomorrow afternoon, we'll know where by then.

Having been to way too many shows this summer I’ve seen some erratic purchasing behaviors from folks.

Saw a young guy tell a vendor he would purchase a G19.5 and the price was about $75 higher than what he could have paid at the table directly behind him.  

I keep my mouth shut but it makes me scratch my head considering they are both FFL sellers.  

Who knows.  
Either way, I always enjoy wasting my Saturday afternoon wandering around looking at guns.

The last ArkLaTex show was pretty grim. Maybe 20 tables but I actually did score something for once. The Murphy show hasn’t been particularly good either but it’s consistent I guess. I really wish they would all get some new blood or at least some new inventory. I’ve been seeing some of those rifles for so long that I remember the serial numbers. If it wasn’t a classic when we started, it is now!

Ouch.  Take it that Classic's Bossier City show when it comes to town is much better.

Backbencher, you would've had to look to find me anyway, they stuck me in that shitty back room. Wish they would have mentioned that when I got the tables, I might not have done it. I would say if the back room saw 40-50% of people that actually came through the door, that would be a lot. Little back rooms are death.

Am trying to get a few tables at DACA in two weeks, although with three shows that weekend, its going to split the crowd for sure..l

I am trying to sell and thin the collection a bit, and Mesquite doesn't really carry the stuff I like in general anyway, but I did have to buy a Sagger ATGM from a fellow ordnance guy there! Looks good with the Russian 125mm tankgun HE/APERS round I picked up a few weeks go!

Wondered when someone was gonna bite on that Sagger.  Let me know if you get tables, I'll add it to the OP.

Just fyi apparently there is no ArkLaTex show in Bossier this weekend. There is a childrens clothing and accessories consignment sale. A buddy went by there this morning and said the parking lot was completely full of soccer mom suvs. Going to be interesting if people start strolling in there with guns😂

Yeah, I had to grab that Sagger, I passed on one last year in favor of an RPG-7...the Sagger was too cool, and he gave me a great deal. Funny when I was a 19E a long time ago at the very end of the Cold War, our biggest bugaboo was still having to DIP in the Fulda Gap as a speed bump to the Russians, I remember those Russian BMP-1's with the Sagger over the 73mm low pressure main gun...I never thought I'd own one one day (or for that matter a Russian 125mm round) what a difference 30 years make...

i made it to Henderson today.  Was pretty well packed Saturday morning for being an out of the way place.  Lots of locals bringing things out of the woods to trade.  Not sure how the afternoon went though.  Planning on walking through Winsboro tomorrow after church since i'll be about 15 minutes or so away, and it will take just a little bit longer to get home.  (almost an hour drive time)  Henderson is not as small a venue as Winsboro, and i did see a lot of signs around Tyler this week for the G&S Henderson show, so i bet that is one reason they had so many people there this morning.  Didnt see many for Winsboro, but i'm sure there are a lot all over Wood County, i'll see if there are any on the way to church in the morning.

If you come to the Fort Worth show, bring a jacket or sweater.  If you don't need it you can probably sell it to a dealer.

Anyone hit Frisco?  Heard the door was $20.  How was DACA?

Nice to meet some ARFCOMMERS again in Allen today.  Looks like there was a great turnout as far as the crowd went. I saw a couple of ADP and one Collin County deputy who didn't look too happy to be there.  I was looking for 1911 grips but it was so crowded I may have missed them.

Bonham was it's usual small show that would take about 20 minutes to walk. There were lots of old lever and bolt actions, a few pistols, and very few black guns or parts. Might be worth it if you are local. I did see one guy walking around with a questionable extended-tube shotgun. The barrel was cut short but the stock looked odd. He wasn't getting many looks.  Bonham Trades Day was in full swing also. The place was hopping today.


Did anyone make South Fork or Frisco?  I thought it odd that there were four shows scheduled for the same weekend.

Now that Premier is holding shows down San Antonio way, Texas Gun Shows has pushed into DFW, hence the Grapevine & Frisco shows.  The Allen show had been scheduled for next weekend, but Premier decided to position it against Frisco.

Were they back putting flyers on cars again today?  I hadn't seen one of those at a gun show since the 80s.  The dot matrix printer was a nice touch too.

For information only but these things used to be quite common back in the mid 80s and early 90s, especially after Waco. It was not uncommon at Market Hall but not so much at the Convention Center downtown.

This looks like a copy of an old flyer that was printed on a dot matrix printer, scanned, and then had the modern phone tags added.
There was a Libertarian party booth set up in the concourse by the glass on the west side but this isn't their style.
Back when you would see a John Burch Society booth and a KKK booth side by side with a couple of other fringe groups in the 80s this was more common.
I just thought it was odd.

When I came out of the show around 11:30 every car in the parking garage and the overflow in the grass had one of these. I don't know if they hit the west side of the show or not.

DACA was horrible, no door at all, very few people all weekend. I should have done Allen, sounds like you guys had lots of people! I am sure the Frisco show pulled a lot of people too, not to mention NASCAR, Balloon Fest, and Oktoberfest in McKinney. Guess I picked the wrong weekend to stop sniffing glue, or do a show.

Lots of empty tables too, I am sure may bailed to do Allen or try Frisco. I hear Frisco was all modern and commercial stuff, I was hoping it would bring new collectible type guys from down south or other areas, but it sounds like not.

It was a good show for buying, I picked up a 1959 Colt Police Positive Special marked to the Royal Hong Kong Police, and a 1939 Enfield No.2 MkI revolver for crazy cheap, so there's that...

Heard a lot about the rivalry kicking off between Premier and the guy from the South....he spent a lot of money advertising, and really dug at the whole "tired of gun shows with very few guns" angle. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out...

Given all the shows I go to in DFW, I don't  really see how that line works.  Heard dealers had to pay for parking while they set up on Friday at the Frisco show.  It's not like we don't have multiple shows nearly every weekend, this next weekend being the exception.

Not to mention the tickets were $20 a pop, and I am guessing paying for parking too...so even more expensive than a Ft. Worth show...

PS By the way, how are those Texas Gun Collector shows? I see one coming up in Denton...are they mainly old west and civil war? Or do they have WWI, WWII military guns? How about militaria? Is that a show I might think about doing?

It's all older stuff, but I don't know that 1st WW stuff is out of place there.  Take a look at their website, have it linked in the OP.

The big militaria show has moved to Oklahoma.

I went to Frisco. Had a $3 coupon and parking was right there and free.  Convention center was almost completely full.  Almost all table were actually guns.  It was clean well layed out with plenty of rooms for scooters to get through 😂.

There was a good mix of new and old there.  I live in Frisco so it was easy to check out.  I went on Sunday afternoon which is usually slower.  Crowd was ok but didn’t see a lot of sales happening but again it was Sunday afternoon.  Heard one of the organizers complaining about multiple shows that weekend reducing the crowd.

I hope it continues to grow.  I live close and just happened to find out about it the weekend of.

I’m wondering if they even checked out their competition before taking this approach.

I’ve been to gun shows in several states in the last few years and I have to say that DFW is spoiled with Premier.

I dun goofed.  RebleYell has a table at Mesquite this weekend.

Thinking about going to Grapevine on Sunday,  is it worth it going to???

Most reports say no unless you bring in 5 guns to get a $10 discount on the door.  Parking's $12 there I hear.

Then I may go to the Mesquite show instead.
