With all the new development (sucks, yes), figured it might be good to get a thread updated with known Treasure Valley outdoor shooting areas. Looking for additions, updates to availability, corrections, updates. Please do add to this if you have info! Some places that come to mind within an hour of the general TV area: FREE PUBLIC RANGES • George Nourse Range aka Pickle Butte (Nampa) 43.4846583872141, -116.72485323709668 • Garden Valley Range 44.06972697075551, -115.93624649245722 WILD WEST SEMI-SAFE PUBLIC SHOOTING OPEN LAND • South of Airport, Boise BLM Land (Kuna/Pleasant Valley): South of Kuna on Swan Falls Road or south of Pleasant Valley Road behind the power lines. "Safe direction" is a squirrely concept. Note: Ensure you are not in the Birds of Prey NCA and check BLM safety maps. Map of 450,000 acres of legal shooting area • Sadly, the BLM land north of Eagle I used to shoot on got encroached upon by that giant Valnova development. If anyone's got scoop on where folks are shooting these days up here, let me know! A vote for the PRGC, I've been a member there for over 30yrs. 24/7 unsupervised w/setups for just about everything; .22, shotgun, handgun, LR rifle out to 900m, tactical pits, etc. PRGC |

I've been out in the desert near the prison, it can be a little sketchy. I've been to George Nourse a bunch, its fun. Show up early and get a lane to yourself. We've shot M16s, 50s, tannerite, flame thrower, etc...  Pulsefire vs Pineapple  M16 vs Tannerite Blacks Creek is good for their steel range, it goes out to 550-ish yards and they are super nice out there. Tomac told me about Parma, I actually got a membership and didnt have a chance to use it last year. I need to re-up and take my MRAD out to their long range. Also a shout out to Independence in Meridian. Super nice folks and good indoor range to sight in your rifles. Thinking about it, we should get a forum shoot setup at George Nourse. That would be fun! Edit - this coming Monday we're moving into the Boise foothills. We'll be in an unincorporated part of the valley, 15 minutes from downtown so I can ride my bike down for a beer, but we have deer and elk in our yard and I can shoot in my backyard.

| Parma is a bit of a long drive from me, and in winter the ice can make some of the roads a bit iffy, but it's an amazing range complex and every match I've shot there has been a blast with super nice people. |

My thought was coming from Boise I can go to Parma and have multiple bays along with preset steel or target backers, or travel about the same time to Pleasant Valley and bring all my own stuff. I also like Parma for Night shooting for similar reasons, plus I haven't run into anyone else out there doing that unless it's someone I have brought with me. |

Is this something different? $40 per person to go shooting is a big ask. Out of curiousity, I googlemapped from Eagle: It's a 43 minute drive to Double Tapp, $80 for lanes for me and my son. It's a 59 minute drive to the very nice Garden Valley free shooting range. It's a 1 hour drive to Nampa's George Nourse free shooting range. Hard sell. |
