A response to my email to the PIO earlier this week.



2x Dagger frames stripped of all parts (one mutilated in a fun experiment of making a Ricky Mouse G26L)

A broken 22lr of dubious origin (given to me by a somewhat shady fellow years ago)

A stripped plastic AR lower of essentially zero value

I took my $500 in silly plastic money.  

Gates opened early, there were several guys walking the sidewalk with signs and I believe eventually some of them set up down the street as more people showed up before 8am.  

They gave out all they had and shut down early.  Between this and the Mesquite Recycles Day at Poteet high school, the city sure used a lot of traffic cones today.  

Lots of single shot shotguns and 80% frames getting turned in.  I'll start saving up junk for the next one.  


Easy OT for a couple cops, a few Public Safety Professionals (non-sworn, paid positions) and a couple of office coordinators (keeping the books balanced).

IOW, instead of relieving Mesquite taxpayers with the use of seized assets, the government of Mesquite is squandering seized asset funds on a leftist feel good boondoggle and enriching public servants.  How quickly government servants forget who they serve.

So indeed, thanks to Mesquite taxpayers, and WalMart who likely subsidized the gift cards.

Would be interesting to know what the PD intends to do w/ the video footage and license plate recordings of the punters.  Turn over to ATF?

IF the seized assets are even legit, which is dubious at a lot of times.  Real seized funds should go back into crime victim recovery payouts.

We're at 70 pages and have run for nearly 7 years.  I think we have room to discuss the best strategy against leftists in Mesquite going forward.  It sounds as if today was very much a success for the 2nd Amendment, and a loss for the leftists, paid for of course by the Mesquite taxpayer.

I would very much like to see if we can publicize the video scrutiny & lack of anonymity at Mesquite's impromptu outdoor gun shows going forwards, to discourage the "buyback" from reaching its goals, and instead flooding them w/ cheaply made "ghost" AR-15 lowers & home made sewer pipe shotguns.

Let's force them to acknowledge this is a waste of police resources and Mesquite city funds.

That's a good idea for the future.

You should probably ask people who were actually there today

Police cars were set up on the approaches to the "buyback" so their license plate readers & dash cams could capture plates and their van had some sort of camera on top, apparently.  Could all that have been turned off?  Sure.  Do we really think Mesquite PD isn't going to collect that info?

Please don't @ the OP.  I read and update this thread regularly, even when I'm at the show.

Unfortunately, the Belton show is very small - less than 100 tables occupied.  The Leander show further south advertises itself as 400 tables, and Tulsa is also this weekend, so many of the regular dealers have gone elsewhere.

What does the Azel show look like size wise?

It's a tiny show.  100 tables, 150 max?
