Study: Concealed Carriers Do A Better Job Of Stopping Active Shooters Than Police We found that concealed carry permit holders stopped 51.5 percent of active shootings, compared to 44.6 percent stopped by police. The two men, one from NJ and the other from NY weren't charged because they both had their permits. TSA catches two men with loaded guns at Newark Liberty over weekend TSA agents at Newark Liberty International Airport stopped two men with loaded guns in their carry-on bags over the weekend. On Saturday, a Mountain Lakes man was caught with a 9-millimeter handgun loaded with four bullets. Later that day, a New York man was found with another handgun carrying six bullets. Batts of New Jersey, was arrested for Carrying a Pistol Without a License. All weapons are prohibited from Capitol Grounds, even if you are a retired law enforcement officer, or have a permit to carry in another state or the District of Columbia," the statement continued. Batts is listed as a "special assistant" to Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., on Legistorm, a research entity that routinely updates salaries and information about lawmakers and their staffs. Normally I'd post this in the "NJ is the safest state" thread but this is different. Glock Found On Driver, 28, In Routine New Milford Traffic Stop: Cops Officers Dan O'Neill and Tom Foschini stopped a vehicle on River Road around 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, for heavily tinted windows and crossing the double yellow line, according to New Milford Police Chief Brian T. Clancy. That's when the driver, Tajh Elliot, 28, of Teaneck, admitted he had a Glock tucked in his waistband, police said. The officers tactically removed Elliot from the car, cuffed him, and safely unloaded the gun. A 10-round magazine was removed, and the weapon was logged into evidence. Elliot claimed he had a permit to carry but police said the permit had expired. Elliot was charged with: Possession of a handgun without a permit (2nd degree) Carrying a firearm without a holster (4th degree) He also was issued two tickets one for tinted windows, the other for failure to maintain lane. Elliot was processed at New Milford Police HQ before being taken to the Bergen County Jail, Clancy said. dailyvoice.com A holster is mandatory in NJ but didn't he realize that carrying a striker fired pistol without a holster is dangerous? With the permit expired he had no duty to inform. Did he forget to renew his permit or did he renew too close to expiration? Two years come awfully quick. There should be a grace period after expiration. If not, then perhaps a nominal fine but definitely not a criminal charge if he already jumped through all the freaking hoops to get the permit in the first place. |
