Anybody familiar with these neighborhoods?

Wife wants to buy a place in one of these

Doesn't make much difference to me, I work from home and just wanna go shooting when I can.

What say you all?  Will I be unburdened by what has been?

Thanks!

ETA: Just got to Florida a couple weeks ago, staying in Englewood until early November.

We're actively house shopping so if anybody has any recommendations, I'd love to hear them, thanks!

Both are full of yuppies....

I'm near Wellen Park and close enough to Babcock. Wellen Park would get my vote over the two. I hate Ft Myers with a passion and thats the nearest "big" city to Babcock.

With Wellen Park you get Sarasota. Not only that, with as much shit as they are building there you won't need to stray far.

Wellen Park is North Port despite what their yuppie asses claim.

I'm not too familiar with Babcock, but Wellen Park has been exploding down in North Port (and yes, it is within the city limits of North Port whether the address says Venice or not).  There has been a lot of back and forth of them trying to De-Annex from the city and become unincorporated Sarasota County, I don't see that happening.  I am pretty sure the taxes in North Port are already crazy high, add in Wellen Park's CDD fees and the HOA fee for whatever community you live in, you're gonna be up there with additional costs.  With the already crazy home prices and insurance costs here, I don't see how that area sustains the growth it has had.  Could be wrong though.

That's interesting stuff, is Rotunda West/Lakes any better or less yuppyish?

I'd try to find something closer to beach access even if it is older and needs renovation. I'd rather get a 800 sq ft 1 bed home on Manasota key than anything in Rotonda.

That place is a hospice house.

North Port proper is nice. Punta Gorda is good to go as well.

What are you looking for specifically though? If you come down I can act as a drunken tour guide for you.

Edit: I see you are already here. I shoot steel challenge matches in Punta Gorda on Wednesdays if you are interested in that. They shoot idpa on Monday and uspsa on Thursdays. I just got into the steel challenge things a couple weeks ago.

You will miss hunting season for the most part but I start working the dogs next month when Cecil Webb starts allowing dog training. I’m either in a swamp buggy or my sxs weather depending. You are free to tag along if you want.

Turns out we're gonna be yuppies.

Bought a little place in Wellen Park, they got us with buying down the rate.

Well probably turn it into a rental in a year or two.

Tried to hang out with Tucker Carlson on Boca Grande but he's probably up in Maine.
