I’m looking at getting a snowbird place in Florida. I found a place in Haines City that I might be interested in. So I’m looking for info on what kind of area Haines City is, crime, demographics and such. Thanks in advance. |

I do not live there but I will give you some basics, the traffic on I4 around that area sucks. Haines City is in Polk County Florida and the Sheriff there is Grady Judd. He is always on social media and TV trying to be the best know Sheriff in the country, he already is in Florida. You are close to Orlando and not that far from Tampa. I know this is not much, but it is all I have. We have good guns laws if that helps. |

Thanks for all the feedback. The place I’m looking at is in town and a 55+ mobile home park, I believe it’s a gated community. I suspect I’ll keep looking, as the feedback on the area is less than pleasant.. |

The area is imploding. The plans for expansion in Central Florida, coupled with how crowded it’s already gotten here, is impetus for me to leave. I’m tired of it. Haines City is arguably in the worst area for it all, with 27 there, and with I4, Davenport, and other areas around that are rapidly growing and expanding. IMO it’s untenable. |

They have their own helo pad for life flights. I love living here. But my house is on a lake and I have a chef for a wife. West coast beaches are 1.5 hours away. East coast beaches are 2hrs away. Disney is 30 minutes, busch gardens is 45 minutes. Down town Orlando is 1hr. Traffic sucks in Haines city proper and north of there. South of Haines city has reasonable traffic. I-4 has always and continues to suck since it was built, but the express lanes seem to have alleviated some of the nightmare. Looking forward to those getting finished around Disney. |

God forbid we have a Sheriff that fucks with criminals. I've worked the streets for almost 25 years, will retire soon, I'm glad we have senior leadership that fucks with the criminal element vs. those that suck up to community leaders and other shitbag politicians in support for criminals. The area you're looking at is, generally speaking, rough around the edges. |

Working is not an issue, even tho I have an LE background. I’ve liked what seen of his stance towards SD and Criminals. That said, all Sheriff’s are political animals, but I seem to have better luck with them than Chiefs of Police. We have a couple Sheriff’s here in MI who are rock stars, one of which I graduated the Academy with back in the day, he is MAGA and takes no shit. As always your mileage may vary. I’m never working again I just count my fat stacks of cash and try to cope with physical pain of MS, it’s pretty good to be retired and on SSDI with fat 401k and a government pension.. Look just below I-10 in north Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton or Bay counties. It is a good thnng you did nbot post this on GD as 87% of the mouth breathes would say nasty things about your medical condition. |

Since you mentioned you have a LE background, I'll ask if you are interested in living in an area where a fair number of active duty and former/retired LEOs live; out in the country in a very Maga area with more animals than people? You might want to check out Baker County (home of the Deportation Depot).

| A lot of hate for a laid back town. Having lived and worked in many areas of Florida, you could do much much much worse. But, I do live on a lake (chain of lakes), have a chef for a wife, and an amazing daughter. If I could move anywhere in Florida, panhandle intercoastal or Southern keys, either with ocean access. But, I'm not super rich (yet). Just moderately capable. |
