I have never done any real training with instruction only youtube drills and shooting at local public ranges. I would like to do some training with pistol/carbine/shotgun. I was curious if anyone can recommend a trainer located in CT who trains skill levels from newbie to more advanced classes. Hopefully a series of classes that I can start from the ground up and advance as best I can with my physical disabilities.

I am not 100% physically so issues with balance and strength come into play.  I'm looking for training that I can learn the skills and practice them even if I might not be able to perform like guntoobers or Keanu reeves. I don't want to roleplay an operator, but I wouldn't mind having some knowledge and skills beyond sitting at a bench competing against myself on a target.

A friend told me to sign up for idpa match and just learn through competition.

Any suggestions?

If you can swing it, Sig Academy is the place to go. The local ones are middle of the road at best. Defoor and some other established names come through several times a year, usually at Blue Trail.

You have to start somewhere!

You have to know how to safely handle your weapon including loading, unloading, using the safety, finger off trigger when off target and never pointing it where it doesn't belong. If you can accomplish those basic functions you will be good to go in a training class.

The Sig Academy offers beginner classes. That would be a great place to start the Crawl - Walk - Run progression.
