That's all we need. I believe we will be sold out by our "republican" commissioners. Get ready to have water shortages, massive electric utility costs and big brother in our backyard. There is an estimated 100 million in new taxes that supposedly will be paid to the county by the globalist surveillance center. I say the commissioners will sell us out. Ill post any developments in this horror and any public hearings or demonstrations I become aware of. And wth Duke cutting local electric production by over 70% probably increased electric bills for residents as OP mentioned. Duke’s solar panel farm isn’t going to cut it, but somehow they will be tied into it getting more govt subsidies. There is a ‘12 month temporary hold’ by the county commission to review the planned site. And the St Pete Times link (original liberal newspaper’s name) wants money to read the article. |

The question (excluding the obvious greasing the palms of land developers and politicians) is why not build it where three power plants were recently demolished? Over four miles away from population, Gulf of America cooling water, an electrical grid already in place. |

I have a feeling that the 12 months will be used to get past the first Tuesday in November, then the balance will be used to figure how to launder the bribe money. |

There's also a proposed data center in DeSoto county at a former natural gas power plant that could eventually encompass 800 acres.  Proposed Data Center
