ETA: Flying into Detroit Saturday 6/28, then to Toronto, then to Niagra, then to Cleveland and fly home 7/6. Any last minute advice? Are the Arabs up there feeling frisky after our bunker busting?? I'm a Texan needing some help planning this summer's vacation up north if ya'll don't mind giving me some ideas? A little background, my family of 5 (47,46,21,17,10 yo) has toured the country around MLB ballparks (my thing). It makes for a good way to see all of the country as well, really the ball games only account for 2-3 evenings out of a 7-10 day vacation, the rest is a lot of sight seeing the cities, beaches, national parks, etc. We got San Fran/Oakland out of the way last summer thank goodness, although it was a great trip. We still have the north eastern ballparks left, and this year we're thinking Detroit, Toronto and Cleveland. So as far as an outline we're planning on flying into Detroit to start, maybe 2-3 days there, possibly train to Toronto and 2 days there and bus to Niagra (for the 4th of July possibly). Then train or bus on to Cleveland from Buffalo and a day or two there before flying back to TX. So any input on -MUST SEE type things in these cities or areas? -The #1 place to eat for each city for someone that will never be back -Navigating customs between Detroit/Windsor and the Niagra Falls/Buffalo borders? (International travel is 100% new for me, still haven't even been to Mexico) -Bus/Train transportation between cities or rent a car? Cost is a consideration. As well as ubering within the cities? -Any other insight on safety, places to avoid at all costs? I'm planning on going naked as far as firearms, unless someone can convince me it wouldn't be as difficult as I would think. So heavy belt buckle and fists are all I'm packing. -Also any Canadian unique aspects we need to take into account? Thanks everyone, copy pasting to other hometown forums as well. |
