| What is the deal? I grew up making that drive. I used to be able to make from GJ to Denver in about 3 to 3.5 hours. The last couple years it’s been taking us 4-5. Lots of backups due to know reason I can tell, apart from out of staters being in the hammer lane or terrified of the mountains. We just spent the weekend over in Larkspur and Palmer Lake and driving there and back felt like a slog. |

Lots of left lane campers, more trucks than I ever remember, construction, frequent closures. I do that drive a couple times per month and I am pretty sick and tired of it by now |

It seemed like every time you turned around I-70 was closed for one reason or another, this summer. Usually an accident. It should be a real mess this winter. I live in Rifle, but haven't been through, or to, Denver in several years. |

I really liked living up 285. I worked so many accidents of people who "knew how to drive" up there it was like a never ending "instant karma" show. People who "weren't scared of a little snow and ice..." It was like the real life manifestation of edgelording in a car. Perhaps my fondest memory was pulling over so a whole train of Subaru's could go by me, many flashing their lights and honking their horns. I knew when its solid ice out that upcoming turn was dangerous, and they got to find out the hard way. |
