So I used to live in a pretty small town south of where I currently live. Now I live like 5 minutes away from there. Yesterday someone was cleaning out an apartment and found what apparently was a dummy grenade. Local town freaked out and apparently some are saying the police didn't know it was a dummy grenade at the time so they called the bomb squad in and apparently "neutralized" it. The police department and the school superintendent wrote a fucking book on FakeBook about "the children" in school and totally freaked out. My question is how easy/difficult is it to tell if a dummy grenade is indeed a dummy? |

Usually they have a big hole in the bottom, where you can peek inside and see that it is empty. Or, you could justify a budget and mobilize a bomb squad to neutralize a hollow blob of cast iron, I guess.... |

Local small town cops called the bomb squad in the next mid size town (BH County/Wloo) to blow it up. People are claiming that "they didn't know it was a dummy grenade" but I'd like to know the actual facts. Just want to know if the "authorities" in the town made a big deal out of not much. Superintendent of the school district wrote a lengthy post on FakeBook about "the children" who were supposedly at risk and went nuts about that so kind of sad to see my hometown taken over by nutjobs. |

Isn't there a hole in the bottom of that thing? Not to say that the "actual" one did/didn't but geez. Are there any bomb techs that actually have brains and know "for sure" that these things are dummies or is it the dingbat media? |
