Went to renew my contactors license and had already signed up into their new system months back. Nope now you have to change your password again. Okay do that. Oh, wait now you must register your continuing education. Upload the documents to them oh no you must use a third-party site to go through loading all the info for the courses then upload the doc's to them that then get sent to the state. And remember to check using the free account to do it instead of the paid one on the third party site. Then after all the codes sent to your email you have to go through on the third party site you finally get to go back to the state's site to log in again with the new password and try to find the renewal application you started as it will not let you just start the process again. Over two hours trying to get a 10minute renewal done. So, I wonder who owns or has interest in this new third party you have to go through and if or how much the State pays them for your free use. The States web site for renewal constantly showed error pages or loading page problems through the whole process you had to deal with. The online course provider I used will send the continuing ed documents to the States requiring it but I guess not to some third party since it is not some simple document upload. Site I had to use for electrical was something called CEbroker. Had to have the continuing ed doc's in electronic format to upload after filling other information out for each course separately. |

Many organizations are trying to offload building/maintaining/operating web apps to SaaS services. I work for a very large tech company that makes servers and networking gear, and we've been moving to various CSPs for years and using as many cloud native tools and SaaS offerings as we can. You can offload physical data centers, physical security, people who maintained them and get better flexibility, less capital expenditures and lead times. Being it is the state, they probably are attempting to do the same, but doing a shitty job as well as involving some sort of cronyism. |
| And the fees keeping increasing. 10 dollar administrative fee tacked on to the license fee for mine. Multiple websites to complete the process along with authenticating yourself. Everything cost more time and dollars just to complete the process. And all this is supposed to be better than just sending it to someone in house to process. |

They hired an Indian company to run the web services for the licensing boards. All of them. |
