A little closer to my AO so that's cool. Pretty cool we can host a national 2a event. I can't remember. This is a bit like shot show with an emphasis on the "creators". As its put on by the YouTuber, TGC news. I've only been to the one last year, but its like having a convention of guys who are all about the firearms industry, laws, rights activists, etc during a small shot show. They have a panel of creators, pro shooters, industry leaders, gun rights activist groups, law makers etc who answer questions and engage the public. If nothing else, if you're close, it would be a good opportunity for a HTF ARFcom meet up. I'm planning to be at the Big Bore Blast this year. When I left GunCon last year, there were a few guys from the big bore blast out front at a cannon. It was obvious there would indeed be a Blast. I'll update here when the venue is announced. With nothing announced more than the general area and the date, the website is sparse. Much more will be on the site as events and locations are secured. ETA: 3/3 I received confirmation from Jon that my submission as a creator has been approved ! Hope to see everyone there. More updates to follow. |

Hopefully in a better, more firearm industry friendly venue this time, but I hardly think they can miss being better in that regard. Niles is further away for me, but it's nice to have it in Ohio again. Anyone know what venue in Niles? I'd like to start looking at options for staying over this time. |

 I'd love to go. Only 2 things holding me back at this point: transportation (although, it should be easy to find a friend who wants to go by then) and my son's birthday/my wedding anniversary are both within a week of that date and might be the weekend we celebrate. If I can figure something out for them, I'm in! |

Yeah, I've never been to Shot but from what I understand it to be, I'd describe Guncon as a "mini-Shot" with a panel of guntubers and other influencers. The website DOES suck. The $50 admission does include lunch. Last year they brought in several food trucks and you got a ticket good at any of them. The food was quite good, honestly. GoA, SAF, BFA, and NRA were all represented. The guy from the NRA was cool about the flack he was taking and said he'd come, knowing it was going to be a rough time for the NRA. Well, I don’t think they’ll have the same issues as in Cleveland. But I’ll ask the owners when I see them next. I normally run into them socially here in the next few weeks a few times at YSU events. I think I’ll see them next week for a meeting. |

That's awesome, I'll have a look at it. Hoping to join and or see you and shotar there again this year! Someone asked earlier about the shirt being included, yes it was plus the price of the lunch made it a pretty good deal. The food would have probably cost about $15 paying out of pocket. |

I am very enthusiastic about Guncon coming back to Ohio again this year and have been cheerleading it. However this year due to how busy I am with my day job & coordinating the prizes for Patriot Fest (New BFA Bash Aug 22nd) I am not certain if I have the bandwidth to participate.. And likewise I haven't received an invite to the VIP range day this year. Last year I put a lot my personal time into promoting Guncon. Got it listed on BFA's events page, alerts were sent out to our enewsletter subscribers. Thanks to Jim aka ARCarbon I was able to attend the Industry range day and I bought a ticket and drove up for a second day in a row for the public show day. Afterwards I wrote a positive review article about it which ran on BFA's website. I believe it would be proper for BFA to be represented at Guncon with it being in our backyard. Not having a representative from the State's leading second amendment rights group as a panel speaker is an oversight.. With all that said I wish Jon and his crew well and hope they continue to grow. His Mom who helps with registration is so sweet. It's really neat that they brought it back to Ohio. Their list of Panelists and Sponsors are very good! Hope everyone who attends has a great time! |

Being a "creator" I may have a different perspective than your average "attendee". Also, this is VERY close to my AO, so convenience has it's merits as well. Firstly, I would say, yes, the show is smaller than some may expect. Even more so if there's some products or companies one does not find appealing or at least interesting. Secondly, this year, they separated the "show" area from the "panel" area which made the overall area seem smaller. There were also several tables in the lobby exclusively for the guns rights activists. Not sure if that separation was deliberate or just convenient use of the space. Separately, the panels I would assume are very different for a viewer/consumer vs a creator. While I am very interested to hear creators and industry/marketing perspectives of the current environment/social media era, I would imagine for a viewer/consumer, that would be foreign if not just boring. Even more so if you are not a dedicated viewer of the majority of the speakers. Obviously we follow those whose opinions we value and perhaps simply ignore the rest. From a creator perspective, I'm glad this year we were able to get direct access on Thursday the setup day. It was great to be able to talk to the industry guys while not standing next tk skme guy trash dumping an AK 3 feet away and without 1500 publict attendees in the way. From my perspective. This was by far the most beneficial day as a creator. Range day was BY FAR the most exciting and enjoyable. And that day, I would say there was just the right amount of industry guys. I felt a little rushed (even missed a couple) but was able to send a little time with nearly ever company I wanted to without too much interference. I talked to a couple of the VIP guys. One couple on range day, and another couple on show day (in the lunch line). Bith felt the $250/person was money WELL spent which surprised me. They didnt get quite as much assess as the creators, but most of what they missed I doubt would have much appeal anyway. They did get a PILE of swag and freebies so im guessing that lessened the blow of the up front $$. Overall, I really hope they keep the show local. The range is a HUGE draw. Thst place is AMAZING! And the mall facilities offered everything I think they needed. Again, I realize my perspective may be different than most. But I'm quite happy we are able to host a national Event like this right here! |

Was eagerly awaiting your report, Jim! Thank you for sharing your experience this year. From the photos I've seen, it looks like the location was much more comfortable this year and there was less "controlled chaos" I watched the Panel discussions on YouTube, they seemed more polished and a lot of insightful information was shared. How was Vivek's reception? I hope Jon will continue bringing it back to Ohio and that he will invite BFA to participate next year. I got there at the end of Vivek's talk so I didn't hear it. But I can tell you the room was packed. I overheard someone saying there were protesters outside the event center early in the day but the Niles cops chased them away. The whole place is private property. |

Buddy and I got there around 10am and the place was packed; the line to get in was 100+ yards long but moved quickly. I saw exactly 1 "protester", an older fellow with a sign (didn't even bother to read it) and he was "moved along" by police with no fanfare. The Venue was very nice, the staff, vendors and attendees were all very polite and helpful. Thanks to all who organized this event! |
