I dragged my feet on a replacement CCW since I moved here from CO (yeah, it sucked that my CO CCW didn't work here). Anyway according to online information and the mandatory training class instructor, you bring the filled out form to LVMPD downtown (Clark County) and they will check information/ID, etc... and then another trip later for finger printing and photo before they mail the CCW to your home. However, I made the appt. online for CCW submission, shown up 15 minutes early as instructed via email, checked in via email, and got called in a few minutes past my appt time. Got my paperwork verified and the lady said, okay you need to wait here for the next step, finger printing and photo. Say what??? Okay cool I will do that. Another 20 minutes wait and then I was done. Total of 60 minutes plus 15 minutes for checking in. The place was busy but LVMPD there had 18 windows/stations for everything so give credit when credit is due, they did okay by me. Now the wait of 4 months (that was repeated 2 times to me throughout the process!). BTW as you all have learned, the mandatory trainng class is a joke. Geared toward 1st graders it seemed. The required live fire qualification was quite lame, 3-5-7 yds, not under the clock  . Really was a waste of an 8 hr day but we all have to go through it.

Im so old that my first permit in Douglas County was typed, laminated and handed over the counter. They absolutely could be doing the same thing now but they want to discourage a la the CA model. As much as I hate the mandatory classes but in the 20+ years I have done the process, Ive seen too many dumbfucks in the classes to make that a hill worth dying on. Wait til you huys start doing the CA non resident process and see what real 'tardation looks like. |
