From the Chattanooga area.  I had a great transfer FFL, everyone I talk to around here wants 75-100 bucks.

Is there an Arfcom go-to around here?  Thanks.

Mike Williams at Wilco Tactical is a good one. Last i used Mike, he charged $35. A fireman, so he only works on appointment. I have used him a dozen times and many of my friends have. May be a bit of a drive, he is in Arlington.

What part of Memphis are you in?

Are you in Memphis actual or the surrounding area like Atoka, Bartlett, etc?

If you're up for a burger sometime I am in the Atoka area, and if you can excuse the deck I've been tearing down to rebuild since March my backyard range is about 50 yards.

I'm kinda around the University area for now, looking at places a little more permanent.

Honestly, in the first three or so weeks I've been here, Memphis isn't that bad.  There's parts of town you don't go, but every city has those.  My biggest takeaway is that the city is just damn empty.

I was born in Memphis, lived in a few different areas and know the area very well.

High Point area is nice, but pricey.

Shady Grove area, east Memphis is real nice.

Sea Isle, east Memphis just south of Park is decent. I own a house there that my daughter lives in.

Downtown has a lot of cool condos. Not my thing.

Arlington/Lakeland are very nice. Nice suburbs with decent schools. Home prices can get hight.

Germantown is very nice. Home prices can get very high. Fairly busy, highish property taxes, crime isnt bad and good schools. My oldest daughter lives in the center of Germantown and she loves it.

Collierville is similar to Germantown. Home prices have a wide range.

Southaven/north Desoto county is VERY busy, affordable homes, ok schools, not sure about taxes. Crime is low mostly.

Tipton county is busy, country, affordable homes and mostly low crime, good schools.

Fayette county is not busy, country, mostly affordable homes, iffy public schools, very low crime and very low taxes.

I lived in West Memphis AR during my childhood. It is not worth living there these days. Marion AR is ok, but i would skip AR.

Fayette County is also home to multiple speed traps, starting in Oakland and are seemingly unending. Watch your foot

For those who don’t know, the ‘local speed trap’ portion of 64 is highlighted here in red:

Who wheeeee you ain't just a kiddin' !!!!

I travel 64 E--->W & W---> Mon-Fri every week.... Luckily, I had a former student whose
father is TSP & he always said "9 your fine, 10 your mine...."

So I go max 7-8 over the posted limit everywhere....

Side note: Had a recent family emergency that required me to get from Lawrenceburg to
Pulaski ASAP..... I think I averaged about 90 on 64 all the way over, & didn't see a TSP
or local yokel or county mounty anywhere until right about when I turned into the
hospital parking lot..... Got lucky that day

Mike is good to go. I've also used Bruce at Wolf River Precision. Both might be a drive for you but worth it IMO for friendliness,  ease, and price.

The line actually starts in Bartlett.

You have to be able to pass through Bartlett and not stuck in a traffic jam in order to get pulled over

Well, I'm still alive.    The job was crazy for the first month, but things are calming down.

Actually, things aren't nearly as bad here as I had believed.  There's parts of town you stay away from, but that's the same in pretty much every city I've been in all over the world.    My main takeaway after four years in growth-exploding, people-packed everywhere Chattanooga is that Memphis is empty.  I like empty.

Looks like I'm buying a townhouse in Midtown in Central Gardens... I couldn't believe it.  A whole big neighborhood full of old white people walking around and riding bikes... it could have been in Aspen.

Now I need to find a gunsmith to do some simple drilling/tapping.
