I've been on a lot like you've described (only smaller) between Lafayette and Delphi for eight years, and it's been fantastic. My lot has a creek running through it, surrounded by woods, which brings the deer right to me for easy hunting. I have a huge garden, and so far I've put in 112 varieties of fruit and nut trees. It's gorgeous here. While I don't have any specific recommendations for where you should look, I will suggest you don't wait any longer than you have to. Between Lafayette, Lebanon, and Kokomo, there are tens of billions of dollars being spent on new manufacturing plants. Employment will continue to go up, and land will continue to get more expensive.

The farther away from built up areas the better.  Get on Zillow and you can look up properties by the county and you can set a minimum for how many acres you are looking for.
