I happened to be up and about and at first heard what I thought were fireworks as from time to time some knucklehead resident there finds it convenient to shoot off a silver salute, etc. in the middle of the night. But it became immediately apparent that this wasn't fireworks and I distinctly heard full-auto pistol fire toward the end of the disturbance which in total lasted no longer than 30 seconds.

Betting someone had a Glock switch with a 33-rd "stendo" magazine and possibly more than one.

Massive LE presence for several hours. For the most part that complex is reasonably quiet and at least two LEO's live there. I say "reasonably" as there are at least 2-3 gunfire incidents there a year. 25 years ago that complex and others nearby were mostly .mil but they're gone and replaced by much richness and vibrancy.

Life goes on.

I'm betting the local media will report nothing unless someone got shot/killed.

Rumor has it that about 300 "switches" were sold online before the BATFE shut things down. I'd say that at least a few were measured with calipers or CMMS before they were turned in. So some are domestic and others probably walk across Biden's border in a backpack.

The rage over assault rifles overlooks the fact that presently the preferred gangbangers weapon is a 33 rd mag equipped Glock 17 with a "switch".

ETA: My triangulation skills are a bit off but not by too much. I reported the shots as sounding like it came from the apartment complex. The shots actually came from about 500-700 feet North of that so I was fairly close. Reports are it was a drive-by shooting (duh).

I've never been offered a Glock switch, I feel so left out.

They were cheap (like $5-10US) when I was in the Philippines since they were sold for the airsoft guns; a lot of the overseas airsoft guns are the same internally as their real counterparts.  I've put a couple of mags through real Glocks with them at one of the ranges there just because but without some sort of chassis system and a rate reducer and muzzle brake or suppressor I doubt I'd buy one even if they were sold over the counter at PSA.  Kind of like the first time I fired a real MAC in .380- burp, burp.  "Gun's jammed", "Nope, it's empty".  You could practically see the dollar marks coming out the side.    Get the rate down to around 650 or so and they'd be a lot more useful in my opinion (other than just bringing a smile to your face which is of course also a perfectly valid reason to own any gun in my book)

That said, I still kick myself for not buying that Shrike upper PSA had on the top shelf at their original store for so long that they'd dropped the price.  That and a FRT/binary trigger would be a lot more fun.
