A search for a 52 year old female camper missing since Monday is still on going. I've been putting off buying a scanner that will receive NXDN that is better known as NexEdge. I'm in an adjoining County now and really don't need to know what goes on over there. I'm limited to a Radio Shack PRO-197 and whatever my ham radios will receive. The PRO-197 gets Greenville county stuff which is Pal800. The missing person information is a bit strange since I don't know of any 52 year old women that leave home without a cell phone these days. The camping area is adjacent to the White Oaks recreation area, but it's been years since I've been in that area. Guess I may drop $350 on a Uniden BCD260DN to be able to be informed. Prayers for the missing woman and her family. |

The time to have used the dogs would have been Monday evening or Tuesday morning. I imagine that they did and the dogs couldn't get a scent. After 80-90 searchers have been over the point last scene, the scents will be really mixed. It's going to be air and ground units. There was a lost person over at Long Mountain that wasn't located for 3 days last August, but air searches weren't effective because the leaves were still on. It's been years since I've been at the White Oaks Recreation area. I can't remember if there is any cell coverage there. |

I was part of the search for Jason Knapp back in 1998 and the follow-up in 1999. None of his remains were ever found. The news said that some of Womack's personal effects were found in a random direction from her campsite. That's not good as those ravines tend to end at a drop off covered with mountain Laurel. There is always hope. |

I'm at the base of Table Rock right now and we are chasing down people starting burn piles in their yards while the forest fire is literally next door, smoke pouring over the area, and ash everywhere. Can't fix stupid. |

So how can this be fixed? Yup. I wouldnt know. Dont have cable. Dont hear about stuff like that on the radio. Anything i want to watch i just stream. Hell i dont have a computer or home internet. Use my phone for everything. Sending it out like weather or ambers alerts is the way to go. |

There are 4 one is a juvenile. 7 people were evacuated off the mountain during the fire. They were questioned by LEO. 3 of them are wittinesses that saw the 4 being negligent with the cigarette butts. According to the local news. Never found the missing woman either. |
| What's completely bananas to me is that even while this fire has been raging, with smoke clouding the community, the Six Mile fire, and a fire ban in place (until recently), we've still been having to chase down people burning piles of trash and leaves everywhere. How dumb can people possibly be? |

On May 14, the sheriff said in an update that a few additional, smaller-scale searches have been conducted since the wildfires. Most of them were with cadaver K-9s. “With the foliage growth and the increased encounters with rattle snakes in the area, we are being very careful with sending people off trail at this time,” Sheriff Blankenship said. “We are also staying in contact with the family and updating them on our status and continuing to offer resources to them as needed.” |

But a couple of things about this missing person scenario don't add up. One is why the missing person didn't have a cell phone. The second is why the personal items were found by a ground search crew instead of the K9 teams. Since the dogs didn't hit on a scent leaving the camping area, then those items were put there by some other person. I'm sure the authorities are keeping score. |

I have no direct involvement with this but this is the gist of the situation from what I've been told by others who were part of the search. The woman was mentally ill. Her husband and family had struggled to keep her safe from delusions for years. Was it a lapse in judgement to leave her unattended or was it a concious decision? We will never know. |

We will never know. Okay, that fills in a lot. She could have left the park on her own maybe uncertain will. I had monitored what appeared to be a training operation on SCMA-6 on Saturday. They appeared to be trying to use the position locating ability of the APX8000 portable to track searchers. I can't say if it related to the Table Rock Search but the comms were coming through the Caesars Head Mountain PAL800 site. |
