Someone posted this on an FB B&T page I’m a member of. Apparently this guy was arrested for possessing a Ruger 10/22 Charger wearing a pistol brace. It seems the brace is the reason for the arrest. NC gun laws mimic federal laws but I wonder if they don’t adhere to the injunctions.

I think this is a scam until some of the basic “who, where, when, why” are addressed.  The likely-hood of a person getting charged for a non registered SBR by local LEO is like growing corn on the moon.

I agree, I have not been able to find any references on Google.

It seems a bit of a stretch at any rate.

There’s gotta be more to this story than what’s being said. As NC LE, I have never heard or seen anything like this. All that being said, it’s a large state with some very blue counties. It wouldn’t surprise me if it did happen.

Or these charges will add on to others like felon and can’t own a weapon etc…

Not knowing any of the facts, and flying by the seat of my pants, but any attorney that's worth a 1/4 of their salt will get that charge dismissed, and the officer will get educated tenderly.

What is not indicated is whether this is an add on charge, or if he was a prohibited person.

I could be wrong, but when I search his name no priors come up.
