I'm new to the area & looking for a good local gun shop (and also indoor & outdoor ranges) in the Shippensburg, Chambersburg, & Gettysburg area. Any ideas? Thanks! |

I'm not too familiar with your area exactly, but there are tons of gun clubs in the general area. If you do a little searching, you should find several options nearby. I typically avoid public ranges. Clubs are much cheaper in the long run, as well as safer and generally allow more styles of shooting. If you like long range shooting, Mifflin County Sportsmans is maybe an hour and a half north of you. They've been increasing their dues over the last several years and are now 5x the cost that they were a decade ago ($250 vs $50). However, 1k+ ranges are not very common. Attached File I would strongly caution you to avoid the PGC public ranges. Lots of unsafe behavior and there has been at least one murder there. For shops east of the river, Shydas tends to have the best prices. 911 Rapid Response can also be good, especially on used guns. I haven't been to many shops west of the river, so I can't really comment on those. |
