ODOT has picked a new route connecting U.S. 23 and I-71 The Ohio Department of Transportation released its preferred route for a potential U.S. 23/Interstate 71 connector highway at a media availability July 30. ODOT's preferred route connects with U.S. 23 north of Waldo and weaves its way through land in Marion County and Morrow County before connecting with U.S. 42 north of the village of Ashley. The route then heads sharply southward, skirting the border of Delaware County before ending at Interstate 71 just south of State Route 521. Well, on the upside, my route to the state shooting range in Delaware will be 10 minutes shorter. Those small quiet "Mayberry like" towns are going to get bigger and busier. Speaking of which, on the drive to the range yesterday, there were a ton of yard signs opposed to this connector. It may be a "lost cause" but if you want one, get it here: https://www.no-hwy.com/ |

I can see their point, honestly. I'd be annoyed if something like that came through my town. ETA - But ODOT is right. The current state of 23 and traffic is pretty bad. |

https://publicinput.com/Customer/File/Full/5a82e016-66d1-412c-aa01-c8fbf2d04306 almost looks like they deliberately avoided land owned by the federal government and/or land already occupied by the state such as SR229 and/or minimal affect in delaware county where there are more people and money as compared to marion and morrow county to oppose it it does appear to deliberately avoid anyone's home |

One of our farms is impacted by this and the other 3 are dangerously close. I don't get why they want a whole new road when 229 already connects 23 and 71 with just one interchange. And dumping more traffic on 71? I bet that has had a major accident or shutdown almost every week for a couple months. Its as bad as 23. |

I have been hearing grumblings of connecting SR16 and 71 due to the expected data center boom expanding out east on 161 and 16. Rumor is it will eventually tie 71 to 70. Maybe this is the beginning of the 370 loop around Columbus. They will tie it all together over the next 20yrs. |
