I am looking for an optometrist in central SC that understands shooting sports and can provide a lens prescription that meets my needs.

I want a clearer dot and no one local seems to have clue or the doc is a lefty who won’t help.

My current doctor just said “I won’t help you with that, it’s not my thing and I don’t care for shooting.”

I obviously need a different optometrist.

I've got your eye doc.
Contact the office of Dr. Mark E Robinson, next to Prisma Richland. He helped me when I had a nerve issue affect my vision.

Dr Mark Robinson.

Can't give you an accurate answer.

I don't understand, do you just not need correction for astigmatism? I feel like if you get your eyesight corrected back to 20/20 or the astigmatism corrected, you'll be fine.

I'm fairly new to prescription eye wear, but I wear contacts when I fly or I'm gonna go shoot. A much better correction than glasses.

Age related degradation which includes some astigmatism.

My current eye doc is not helpful when I asked for assistance to address the issues as they related to shooting sports.  For example, I ask if there is a script or way of correction that works best when shooting pistols, red dots and magnified optics and he responded that he didn't know anything about it and would not discuss it because he didn't care for shooting sports.  In my area no less.

I know there has to be an eye doc in the area that knows a thing or two.  We have 4 sporting clays ranges within an hour and 2 ranges that host pistol and rifle events along with locals in tree stands and duck hunting every fall.

My distance eyesight is still acceptable but on my optics I am running out of correction and my red dots are blooming more.

I had my contacts done by Blythewood Eye care.  I told them my needs for rifle shooting, driving, reading, and using the computer.  It did take a few tries, but they dialed in my contacts as good as can be expected.  I tried the multifocal (one eye distant and one eye close) and it did not work for me, but it has been great for my mother for decades.  They got my distance vision as close to perfect as I could hope.  I still use reading glasses for the computer and close up stuff.  That's the compromise I had to accept.

They did not balk when I talked about shooting.  I did have to explain the distance I needed to focus on, and my expectations.  They did a good job and were patient when I came back multiple times to get my distance vision more crisp.

I use Nye Eye Group in Greenville for contacts lens and glasses. I use an adjusted contact lens prescription that sacrifices some distance vision for the ability to read restaurant menus and cell phone screens.
