It's been years since I did it, don't remember if there's any new laws or precautions need to be aware of? We're planning to move and I need to clear our about 30k rounds of various ammo from .22 to 50 BMG, also handguns and rifles. I know there is a consignment opinion with a local gunstore iirc to unload a high volume and recommendations for a trusted store? Sorry mods if this isn't allow, I just need info. |

Short answer is you are within the law to sell any items you listed to another Ohio resident that is not a prohibited person. How you determine residency and the possiblity of a person being prohibited is up to you. You do not have the burden to prove the dis/qualifications. If the person indicates to you that they meet the disqualifications you are outside of the law to proceed with the sale. |

Expect a 20% haircut for consignment gun sales from any FFL. I've used AimHi in New Albany for both in-store consignment and one GunBroker auction (a long time ago which they screwed up). They're probably no better or worse than any other shop. I'm a member there so it's just easier for me to use them. One problem with consignment sale is it can take a long time to get paid, especially if the gun is purchased on lay-away. Cabela's will buy guns for cash, but they are low ballers. I've also used Bryant Ridge to run several GunBroker sales for more collectible guns. They are a "Top 10" seller on GunBroker and run thousands of sales. They will come to you and pick up guns you want to sell. I would go this route for a large number of guns. They start auctions at $0.01 and let them ride for two weeks and end the auction on a Sunday night for maximum exposure across the country. If the $0.01 start scares you off you can ask for a higher starting value but if the gun doesn't sell they will still charge you a fee. https://bryantridge.com/consign-your-firearm |
| I will also say that Vances is probably not a good place to go to actually sell your guns to them(not sure on consignment) but I have been fairly close by a couple times in recent years when guys have brought there stuff in to sell, both times they walked away clearly very upset with the offer they got, I would try to sell as a individual. |

Yeah definitely not. Most any shop is going to offer you 40-60% of retail. Auctions are the way to go IMO, unless you have a shop willing to do a good consignment deal and you dont mind waiting for your money to trickle in. Even then, auctions tend to bring in people thst dont check prices before hitting "bid" Ive always said that an auction house can make money buying guns at retail and reselling them if they wanted to. |

I lost the gun bug and sold almost all my stuff.. just starting to get back into it and also looking to move back to SE ohio so i can have land to shoot on. My parents sold the farm but kept a couple acres i would just need to have the neighbor use his dozer to redo shooting lanes. If you got anything good im looking to buy. |
