So next weekend there is a BIG Lowrider show, sponsored by Lowrider Magazine at the Indianna State Fairgrounds. 1. Think this would be family safe? It'd be the wife and I, maybe one old friend, if he can make it. 2. Would this be a CCW friendly place, or are they wanding folks? We are thinking about driving up Friday after work, (From S.E Mo), doing the show on Sat, then driving home either after the show or on Sun, depending on how tired we are after the show. Thoughts on the area, not to show? I'm sure 98.9 % of folk here would have no interest in the show. Thanks in advance. |

Whether or not they wand you will depend on the event organizers, as the fairground has no security checkpoint. You pay for parking, drive in and park, then go find your venue. I've only been there for the flower and patio show and for the Indy 1500 gun show. At the flower and patio show you just show your ticket and walk in. At the gun show you are supposed to unload any weapons outside that building first. On the way in they ask if you are carrying. If you say yes, they will verify it is unloaded and put a zip tie through the mag well. If you say no, in you go. As far as getting to the event safely, I've never worried about it. The surrounding neighborhoods aren't exactly Beverly Hills, but they are just fine to drive through. While I live in the country and dislike cities, I've always found Indy surprisingly easy to navigate. (465 across the top of the city can get plugged up and slow to a crawl, but that won't be a problem for you, given that you're coming from the south.) |
