I've worked with dozens of optometrists and they all would have been well versed on prescribing something that fits your needs. It's the optician that may be unfamiliar with making what you need. I went through optician school in the Navy, so you can imagine that was taught there. But as I said, any optometrist should be able to help, there's really nothing special that the optometrist has to do that's different than prescribing a regular bifocal. One more thing, don't get the prescription from an Ophthalmologist, they can prescribe, some do, but it isn't their forte.
In the meantime, check these out. They have an add in the top of the lens, they're what you call an occupational bifocal.
