Just got a form letter from the assessor asking property owners who rent their properties to provide trailing three year income and expenses so he can experiment with a different valuation method.  I will have to look at the state code again, but this is insane and I’ve never heard of such a stupid idea.  Anyone else get this?

I have not heard of that before. You might consider reaching out to Iowan For Tax Relief and see what they know about this.

I have apartments in Iowa.  Never heard of this.  It's probably a city thing, not a state thing.

I kind of saw this on the news, your property must be in Marshall county (or maybe Marshalltown, I can't find a copy of the story).

Seems like in the story they said "Linn and Johnson County do this, so lets do it."

Supposedly it was a letter sent out from the Assessors office?
