Our resident grumpy cat ThePontificator passed away today. Very sad/tragic course of events over the past 2 weeks. My son and I were there with him at the end today and have been helping the family, as he was the primary caregiver for both of his parents who are both 90+. His brother and sister in law are from out state and are making their way back as soon as possible, they had just left Saturday after being here for a week.
I think things have been set up/covered as far as his parents physical needs, but they are still in shock over loosing him and the family could use a kind prayer/thought said for them.

That's a shame.  I didn't know he was ailing.  I liked his wit and banter here, and will miss him.

That really sucks! I looked at him as the defacto leader of the SCHTF. I regret never meeting him in person.

I wanted to meet him as well, seemed like a decent sort to sit down and enjoy a lunch with and just listen to.  No idea why but he'd taken to messaging me about his Mossberg pistol and Sumter in general.  I had no idea he was ill and I'm definitely going to miss his postings and his avatar.

He will be missed.......
We spent a lot of days shooting, traveling to visit distant gun shops with a stop for a meal, and the occasional cold adult beverage on the side while I helped him with one of his projects out in my garage.

The Pontificator name certainly fit as he loved to comment, ask questions and of course his occasional shit-post.

Well dang. He was probably the most active poster in this forum. (?)

Maybe, I’ll go see what’s on sale at Simpsons Hardware as a tribute.

I grew up in Sumter and enjoyed his updates.

RIP

I got an email from in just the last couple of weeks.  He mentioned his parents but said nothing of himself other than not being about to go shoot.

I used to see him pretty often at the Wateree DNR range, we would compete for brass.  LOL

I wondered yesterday if he was was doing the census gig again this time.

My thoughts to the family.

For those who may not know, he was well known in town for taking his brown dog to the local Brewery and our favorite Hardware, I mean gun store, Simpson's Hardware.  He was always nice and yes, he shot his guns when he could.

I shot IDPA with him for a few years in the early 2000s.  His snark about the gamers and the game matched mine.

He was Grassroots SC merchant coordinator back in the day.  He tracked who was posting "no guns" signs.  He gave no fvks when confronting jackwagons posting crap signs to bind up CWP holders.

RIP, my friend.
