Greetings… could use some advice. Have a Tacoma 4x4 and small tent trailer. Leaving San Diego tomorrow morning and planned to go up the 395 for fun. Am seeing Winter Storm Warmings around Bridgeport. 35/50% chance of snow Mon/Tues. Chains are home in Oregon. Should I divert up the 5 or 99? I came down the 5 last week. Was looking for some scenery. I am in no rush. Thanks! |

Never go near the mountains without chains. Buy some chains. If you need them, you'll have them. Purchased from the proper retailer, if you don't use them, you can return them for a refund. I would rather drive 99 than I-5. If you have spare time, and chains, you could take Hwy 41 and Hwy 120 north through the foothills and forest. Along that route, there are lots of places to stop, lots of little detours, if you want them. |

I’m doing the 99 to 5. From Northern Oregon so rain is fine, and it’s raining! Will l cut back over at Weed towards Central Oregon. Camping now just shy of Redding and kicking myself as I looked at my chains as I packed last week. I’ll get some fishing in once I cross into Oregon tomorrow morning. Thanks |
