Him and what army?  LE hates that dipshits guts already for supporting all the leftist anti police agenda.  And many agree that WA gun laws are not constitutional.  The rest know the laws are in dispute.  And they would need to pass even more extreme laws in the USA to even attempt it.

That leaves who exactly?  National Guard?

Nope- this is the death of 1000 cuts, the slow strangulation of commerce as we are already seeing, that “chilling effect” we see when someone won’t even ship a holster or belt clip to WA (yeah I can’t get a Glock belt clip- WTF…)

Am I reading this right?
You cannot buy a AR-15 but can buy a Mini 14?

Yes

But they have to make sure they don't include the top cover since that would make the Mini 14 illegal due to having a "barrel shroud"

So some shops have been taking it off to sell the Mini rifled

You also can’t have a Mini-14 with a removable flash hider.

I look at that top cover as protecting the operating mechanism, and not designed as a "heat shield" to protect the user from burning their hand.  The RCW specifically mentions it must be there for "heat purpose"

A shroud that encircles either all or part of the barrel designed to shield the bearer's hand from heat, except a solid forearm of a stock that covers only the bottom of the barrel

Ruger calls it a "handguard assembly" not a "heat shield."  But like everything with these crap laws, it is so ambiguous and leaves it up to the discretion of the AG, that the juice isn't worth the squeeze for the dealer to push into the "gray area"

From what I understand the big box stores like Cabelas and Sportsmans are not stocking them at all and saying they're not legal for sale but smaller shops will.

I dunno, I have no intention of jumping through all the hoops that exist now just to own a neutered Mini 14... I feel for the guys just getting into shooting

You know that scene in 13 Hours when Jack and Tyrone get into the truck at the airport and the first thing Rone does is hand Jack a gun?

I think I'm gonna start doing that when we have guests come visit. And maybe mention it to our family back in WA when we come to visit (although I'll be bringing my own).

That's real hospitality.

I still think a modified version of the fightlite rifle would be legal. Would need a specific upper. Or one of the cali style pull action uppers.

The non threaded. Fightlite upper with a free float tube that is milled into a half moon with the top end exposed would not be a heat shield for the barrel anymore than a wood stock is. Making a fightlite bolt action or pull action would also allow it.

As it is though. The fightlite reciever I would think should be sellable as there are upper options that are legal. May be wrong on the last part.

After some of our previous conversations about this, I have been thinking that monolithic upper receiver with top of the rail portion milled off would be legal AND offer the necessary rigidity.

Unfortunately, monolithic uppers appear to be big $$$.
