My wife and I are taking a cruise out of Tampa this weekend. It will be over our 26th wedding anniversary. We would like to have dinner in Ybor before we leave. We prioritize the taste and quality of the food over the atmosphere, so we are really looking for someplace to go for dinner that will be very good food even if the restaurant is a dive. Can you recommend something? We are thinking Ybor because we don't have any Cuban places here in Columbia, SC.
Thank you in advance! |

I agree with the above recommendations for The Columbia, but would also suggest their sister restaurant Casa Santo Stefano. It is one block south of The Columbia and is Sicilian-themed. The place is beautiful and the food is outstanding. They also have a rooftop area where you can have drinks that features a lighter menu. You can also enjoy a cigar up there.
My offices are in Ybor City so we spend quite a bit of time at the local spots. Casa Santo Stefano |

FYI there's also a smaller cafe style Columbia restaurant down by the cruise port. We use that one a lot when we hit lightning games as it doesn't require a reservation usually and is a more laid back dress code.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/CyaDzbTSd3g57sno7 Easy walk from the port and most hotels around it. Still has the same Cubans, 1805 salads and most entree selections. |

What, the oldest restaurant in FL? Rich history. Whatever you do, order the bread pudding for dessert. You'll thank me later. Even if you don't have a sweet tooth, GET IT. |

I think you can see it from The Columbia. Seriously though OP, since your a first timer, The Columbia = bread pudding! |

You can’t go wrong with any of these three places we are talking about although I would say that the ambience and history at The Columbia is something that needs to be experienced at least once. As a lifelong Tampa resident, I’ve been there plenty of times including once last week. I like to bounce around to the other places to experience the various menus. Can’t go wrong with any of them. |

I LOVE the Columbia. I live in TN, but my son lives in Tampa, so every time I visit him, you can guarantee I'll eat at least one meal there.

We ended up at some sort of a fast food greek place near the hotel. The cruise was very good though. |
