“Broader community interaction” The city of Fort Collins has announced plans for this year's Fourth of July celebration, marking the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding, but in a break with a long tradition, there won't be a parade this year. In its place, the city is planning something different to "highlight the nation’s history and bring residents together to commemorate these landmark anniversaries. "As we mark the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 150th anniversary of Colorado, the city saw an opportunity to reimagine the celebration in a way that encourages more interaction and broader community participation," the website states.
