I'd imagine when this is ready to roll, this "project" would be worthy of asking for a site-wide notice/sticky/newsletter/whatever the options are. Probably a senior management to senior management discussion.  Just had another idea as well –– I've seen some folks 'round these parts (slips my mind who at the moment) who made up some nice "Dillo Lanyards" with paracord and what not. Do they have paracord or similar in colors like pink? Would be cool to have a little volunteer Pack LaRue side project in which we "fancy up" up a quantity of these Dillos –– to go in the kits themselves. Or something like that.  |

I'm in, of course, and I'm glad to see that a good charity is found. A good friend of my wife lost her mother to BC, so any money that will go to help research or to ease a patient's journey is A-OK in my book. That being said, the whole 'Breast Cancer Awareness' thing does annoy me a little. Pink *everything* so that people can be "aware" of breast cancer, whatever that means. I'm keenly aware of it thankyouverymuch and so is every person I know. Breast Cancer research gets tons of funding and publicity, while stuff like Neuroblastoma kind of falls to the wayside. It's not that I like breast cancer, I don't, it just seems like Breast Cancer is the hip cause to support. It's especially weird to me when it's one of the more survivable cancers especially when caught and treated early, and I feel like that's one of those things like smoking now...you know you MUST get a mammogram, and I know that this whole "BC Awareness" thing has been a big part of that but... I dunno. Ignore me. In on one, etc.

No one in my family has breast cancer, and I dont have anyone else who would appreciate a dillo...can we split a pack with someone or something? |

There is also another foundation that helps woman with cancer in a similar manner by providing free housecleaning while they are undergoing treatment. I hope our "Warrior Angels" really know what a big deal this is and thanks to whomever found them... Ignore the idiots! B2 My CINCWIFE (and I) could've surely used a LOT better info and support in 1999/2000; regardless, we were lucky enough with a lot of GOD & prayers to find a superb oncologist, but it never hurts to mention she was tougher than nails/ and one determined lady to see her kids graduate. Pretty close to 11-years post/chemo/post-RAD/post a whole lot of hurt/stress/surgery. Regardless, CINCWIFE is still alive after a very invasive cancer!
(BTW, I want to be part of "Pack LaRue" but can't keep up w/ the requirements... ) |
