The rail is made by Colt and mounts to their unique upper receiver rather than to a barrel nut.

I have only seen M5 in military and export market. Anyone seen sales to LE or commercial domestic ?

Thanks for posting all this great information. I knew very little about the M5 before reading this thread.
I'm not sure if they've sold any of the 7.62x39 rifles, or if it's just a catalog option looking for a buyer. I'm curious though, what would Colt use as magazine to go with that caliber? I'm assuming it would use an AR-style magazine configuration and not "rock and lock" AK mags. Quoted: The 14.5" model will be posted in a reply here due to ARFCOM's photo posting restrictions. Upper / Rail are similar to those found on CM762/CM65 available a couple years ago - the Lower Ambi controls are similar as well.

It’s a little humorous that when I start a thread stating that the CR6920 should look EXACTLY like the M5, except with a 16” barrel, my reasoning is universally rejected. Would it help if it was called a CM556-16H-M5A, and was put at the top of the chart on the right?

The fact that the M5 exists is only a revelation to you and does not indicate that the LE6920 will not exist as you suggested.
Guys, should we tell him about the LE6940? |

I remember when the experts in the SIG forum told me that SIG would never make a 320 with a 3.9” barrel and a Compact module. Even with the extreme popularity of the 365 XL. I don’t have to tell you what happened.  What’s a 6940?  Oh, and the “LE6920” won’t exist as anything, anymore. We’ll see who’s right in the coming years. I’m thinking it won’t be long before the “M4” looks more like the CM556 than the CR6920. And when it does, it will be the death nell for the FSB, once and for all. |

Bringing Colt and Colt Canada "under one umbrella" sounds promising; hopefully if it works well on the MIL/LEO market, they'll *maybe* look into getting civilians some "military collector series" Canadian guns
Will it happen? No, but I can dream. |
