I picked mine up on Monday. Fit and finish is very nice with no slop whatsoever between upper and lower receiver fitment. It is probably has the nicest finish of any Colt I have purchased. Oh, and the Moe furniture is way better than the oem.

My local dealer have lots of the Calif. version MOE (black) and standard SP6920, but I'm hoping they would make some with FDE/ tan finished receivers. I read some news that Colt would release another new model E6920MPG-B with green anodized receivers and Magpul parts in black, but no CA version. I had read around here and other sites that the 6920 16" barrels and 6921 14.5" barrels (carbine gas system) have the same size gas port of 0.063". Holy shit...they finally killed the "sporter". I know some didn't mind it, but my family owned a gun shop back then and a lot of folks saw it as Colt marking our rifles to somehow appease the anti-gun lobby (which was going strong in the Clinton era).
I have owned many Colt handguns and loved them, but it's been almost 20 years since I've had any desire to own a Colt AR because of the sporter markings. Great move by Colt...I already want one, but I'd be breaking my neck to get one if they offered a 14.5" or 16" with middy gas.
And Iraqgunz, if you're reading this...yep, pretty silly huh?

I just had to put a order in for one. I dont really care for the Magpul handguards and sight and stock but I will swap them out ASAP. This is my first colt AR, it will go nice with my rail gun I am off to find a Colt 14.5 inch barrel for it now to make it a real M4

Have a NIB 6920 coming next week.Mine has the Colt logo and under it has M4 Carbine with LE100XXX and the stock and receiver are marked Colt Defense.

Inc. have SP prefix serial numbers and Colt Defense marked lowers have LE prefix. Colt had some mismatched markings in the past so I won't be surprised if they have some with mixed markings.

Thanks,the dealer i bought from gave me an option of a 6920 with no colt defense and a SP serial# OR a colt defense LE serial # rifle.I took the colt defense mainly because i think it looks better,lol Will post pics when she comes in,cant wait im excited. |

Friend bought a 6920 model. Has anyone seen on these where the front sling swivel is not in it's usual location mounted under the front site post in the 6'oclock position via the rivet but instead loosely secured I between the front sight posts A-Frame and at the 9'oclock position (some kind of block securing it loosely)?
I have not seen that before on any AR much less a 6920. It seemed a bit cheesy, knocking around with a lot of loose play on all axis. |
