I misplaced mine, so my participation in the Outshoot the Shootist challenge was on hold... Asked polite-like, and a couple days later, one showed up in the mail. Finally had the chance to get to the range. I was slightly nervous as I have been out of the precision rifle game for about 5 years and have not "shot for groups since" Zeroed at 50yds and then shot a few copies of my test target. This was the best of the bunch. I was a bit rusty and shot some fairly bad groups. Here are ALL the groups I shot after getting on paper at 50 even ones i obviously pulled (using the OnTarget app all MOA): .374 .480 .596 .663 .956 .957 .964 1.004 1.249 1.413 1.656 1.726 Average of all groups 1.003 MOA Considering how out of practice I am and some rushing I'm pretty pleased the guy shooting a boltgun next to me not as happy (about 10MOA at 50yds) Thanks for having such a cool challenge!!! |

Here's my submission. I had the chance to take the 14.5 PtOBR to a newly opened indoor range that has 100yrd rifle lanes. I mounted and sighted the Leupold using some Federal 50gr BTHP and once I was sighted, I switched to Corbon .223 69gr match. I made some minor adjustments for the Corbon and fired several groups, each having some fliers. After I calmed down a bit, I improved to the point I finally shot a nice group.
ETA - I also did some quick shooting with the SOCOM 556RC suppressor attached, POI shift at 100yrds was approximately 0.5-1 inch low and 0.25" to the left. ETA II - Did the calculations for the prior targets as well as the POI shift (minimal) for some quick final shots using the SOCOM 556RC. 14.5 PtOBR with SOCOM 556 Brake Corbon .223 69gr Match Leupold 4.5x14 Indoor 8 lane, 100yrd range:
