| What muzzle devices are we using? I won't be using a suppressor and but I'd like a mild brake. I saw the one from Area 419 but I'm not really interested in spending $180 on it. I was also eying the surefire warcomp sport but wasn't sure how effective it would be, using a 30 cal muzzle device while shooting .224 bullets. |

For everyone concerned about the 5/8x24, keep in mind that while not ideal, you can always use a 5/8x24 to 1/2x28 adapter. This would allow you to run a RC2 as mentioned previously in the thread or any other 1/2x28 device. As always, check with an alignment rod before shooting. For this barrel im going to use an Otter Creek Labs OCM5. However, I always try to buy cans that are hub mountable. It really opens up options and doesnt lock you into one company's devices. |

I almost pulled the trigger on this batch, but didn't (maybe next time). I too am wondering about the muzzle devices. I would use it to rebarrel my 16" GSD and stash the stock one for future use, and it would be basically a dedicated DMR match type rifle. Therefore I would want an effective brake first, ability to suppress second. My two suppressor systems are Surefire and Griffin Dual Lok. Surefire only makes 30 cal 5/8x24, and I don't have a 30cal Surefire can anyway. Griffin makes a 6.5 5/8x24 Brake. Maybe that would be what I'd want, but seems it still wouldn't be as effective as a .22cal brake. Also it would require use of the larger 30cal cans if/when I ever wanted to suppress it. I didn't realize there were adapters out there... That doesn't sound super appealing right off hand. Maybe the increased weight would offset any loss of effectiveness with a 6.5 comp. |

All my YHM muzzle devices are bored for 9mm (only bore they offer) and I use 5.56, 6mm, and 30 cal cans on them. It's a Dual Lok... I think (like Surefire) they are set up so 30cal cans will go on 22cal muzzle devices, but not vice versa... or at least I meet some resistance threading it on that way and don't want to crank any harder. I guess I should verify that with Green0 here. Got out and shot mine this morning. Loaded a handful of dif loads with 73eldm and 77TMK using xbr, tac, and rl15 Don’t remember which I all tried but 77TMK and xbr were the clear winners. Break in I just half ass followed Gs post from earlier in this thread. 2 rounds, clean. 7 rounds, clean then start blasting. Attached File |

@GACS something I just got to thinking about. The barrel that Preston Moore reviewed was mine. Is the fire cracking he saw normal, premature, from something I did, etc? I've shot maybe 50-100 rounds of factory ammo at this point, the ammo he shot, then load development with 8208 XBR, Staball Match, and MP518. It's sitting at 600 + rounds now but the fire cracking was seen in 350-400 rounds. On another note, just need my DDC ACH and ODG 5-Axis trigger guard to ship and my original SPR barrel will be going in my new ODG receivers.   |
