I'm trying to work around a p/w M4 barrel...considering the extended free float quad rail with the fsp cutout, but curious if the non-fsp cutout models would fit over a shaved fsp if I go that route.

Which rail are you looking at?

This is a 10" gen 2 quad rail over a shaved front sight post. Clears just fine.

Looking at the 2 piece drop in free float that attaches to the standard barrel nut.

Thanks for the pic above. Basically what I'm pondering.

They have a bunch of choices that clamp on to the standard barrel nut. Quad rail and free floating. I've had good luck with mine. I have another rifle with a Centurion C4 that's very similar. The Centurion is an overall slimmer rail with more intricate machining, but ultimately more expensive. Both have worked well with a good amount of use at this point.

Say my barrel nut had a few rounded over/worn teeth because an idiot installed it. Would that hurt the rail lockup?
