Greetings-
I just received a new Thorntail mount (SKU: LPIC100), and I wish I would have asked this question earlier, but I was hoping to mount it on the top rail of my Geissele SMR MK1 rail, just behind the Troy folding front sight, and have the Elzetta light in the 11:00 position near the front end of the rail. In playing with it a little tonight, there isn't enough clearance to get the bar (arm?) past the BUIS. Is there any other way of doing this, or would I have to screw in one of my rail sections on the side, and mount the Thorntail to that (more like you have in the photos on your site)? I'm not sending this back, as it's not even remotely your fault. Any ideas? |

Thorntail maintains contact with the edge of the rail, which is also occupied by the sight, preventing forward placement. I checked a VTAC & the new Magpul Rail Light Mount and the sight gets in the way.

Earl, thanks, but I have a better idea. I like this mount enough to swap it out with the one on my sbr (has a DD quad rail). I will send you an email later today to work out getting the shorter arm from you for the sbr version of the Thorntail. If you recall, I accidentally ordered that one in the first place. I should have left it alone and this would have been perfect!  Thanks again!
