Most other firearms accessory companies are fine with a simple declaration that I am over 18 years of age. CMMG demands an exact birth date, which is a bit of personal information that can be and has led to identity theft, as a prerequisite to entering their website. Maybe CMMG only wants customers who are not smart enough to be aware of that. Regardless, my three choices are: 1. comply with such a stupid request, 2. lie and put down some random date, or 3. take my money to a company that is okay with a declaration that I am over 18. I choose the 3rd option. |

I had to make up a company name to buy a handful of specialty screws for machine tooling. I actually tried to buy them from retailers and struck out. I bought some that said they were the correct cross and they weren’t. Finally got them from the maker via my fake company. My other option was to buy these tiny metric screws from Germany for $50……each. I couldn’t buy without setting up an account and it wouldn’t go without a company name. I should have called it Redneck Hobby Industries. I made up a company name. Now when I get a bunch of mail to a fictitious company I will know who is selling my data. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

I play games on Steam. In order to look at some of the games, they require you to verify you're over 18 by entering your birthdate. They provide a default birthdate of Jan 1, 1980. I can guarantee you that almost no one does anything other than click "OK." There are times when it's either morally wrong or just a bad idea to lie. This isn't one of them. |
