Most of Colts current offerings are available in stock and even under MSRP. Ammo is still 0.50+ a round, traffic at my range is way down lately. I’m trying to hold out on the release of the M5, but would really like the double bullet marked lower. |

I didn't really need to spend the cash to get one right now, but I have been looking for a M4LE lower and they seem to sell for crazy prices. 17 months ago, I bought a 6933 SBR with a M4LE lower to satisfy the itch for one and it's still in ATF jail waiting for my form 4 to be approved. When these came up for sale, I decided to go for it until my other one gets out of jail plus these lowers do have the safe/semi selector marks. The way I understand it, they only offered M4LE lowers on the 6921 and 6933 SBR's and the only way to get one is either buy an SBR or find a lower somebody notified the ATF that it was no longer an SBR. Anybody have a clue as to how many years the M4LE rollmark was used? |

I’ve read internet forum posts that state Colt transitioned from .169 to .154 FCG pins after serial number LE050000 or LE060000. I haven’t come across any definitive documentation from Colt. I have a handful of M4LE lower receivers. My LE045XXX M4LE receiver has the larger pins. My LE097XXX M4LE receiver has the standard sized pins. It looks like a mixed bag of items. Mine will hopefully be here 8/22 so I will know more. They did sell some on GB and one had a upper marked with a C and AF, the other one had a keyhole and Diemaco marking. It also looked like the bolt had MPD on it. Item #942183471 and 942151788. |

Here’s my large pin, half moon carrier, Cerro forge upper LE Carbine that I bought on GB about 2 years ago now. Can anyone tell me why the roll mark is so ugly on mine? It has casting marks or something on the left side of the RM… barrel is 2004 dated and I bought it new in plastic with no box.

I buy rifles to shoot, special markings may look cool, but they don't help the rifle shoot any better. Unless the price is VERY attractive, I won't pay any premium for markings that don't help the rifle shoot any better. Many police trade in weapons are used for annual training, sitting in patrol cars, or armories, but not shot all that much so they can be priced well. But if it was $900 for a used trade in and $900 for a new rifle both of which were made by Colt, I would buy new. |

If it doesn't come out using a qtip and some rubbing alcohol, I would get a small bottle of hobby enamel paint thinner from places like Hobby Lobby or Michaels craft stores and try that. If you do use paint thinner, rub easy and follow-up with a good oil rub down of the exposed areas. Paint thinners often rapidly dry out the surface. Having said that, it is only a guess as to what the previous owners actually did. |

Other than the retailer telling us which pd department they came from, any clues/hints that you can share to definitively track down the pd dept? Colt archives will probably only show the distributor. I have 5 colts now and they are all pd trade ins. I know the dept origins of 3 of them |
