FYI, for those looking for 40mm barrels, my cousin tells me that Colt backed-out, based upon the latest news cycle, and cancelled his order for barrels. I know a number of you have asked. LMT is still a go, but No-Go in the near future with Colt.

Our 37mm 9" barrels are at anodize and will all ship by the end of the month. We still have a few receivers left and continue to ship the 12" models when ever orders are placed

If he is referring to OUR order for M203 barrels, I stand by my comment.

If he is referring to some order his cousin placed with Colt for M203 barrels that was canceled, which I highly doubt as they wouldn't even accept orders from someone for M203 barrels, than I apologize for my comment.

Hmmm, I guess there are two ways to read that statement. I didn't realize (or perhaps I forgot?) you guys placed an order for 40mm barrels.

@ArmsUnlimited - Do you guys have 40mm barrels on order??? I would love one for the 40mm Colt DD I bought from you guys, but when I called and asked about it not long ago, I was told you guys would NOT be getting/selling any 40mm barrels......

We will NOT be ordering any 40mm barrels, only the 37mm that were special made for this run of receivers.

Colt never has and most likely never will accept orders from dealers (let alone individuals) on 40mm barrels, so what was mentioned above about some individual ordering a 40mm barrel is nonsense

I hate to say AU is wrong as the same dealer referenced by by barrelnutz sold a colt 40mm barrel on gunbroker just a month ago- I have it in my ended auction watch list

I can say with 99% certainty he did not get the barrel from Colt. The M203 barrels are not parts you can order from Colt. In the years we have been a distributor we were only able to snag about a dozen complete 40mm M203s out of Colt, they really only go to military or international sales.

Just because a dealer sells Colt product doesn't mean they get it direct from Colt, more often than not dealers are buying from distributors like us or commercial distributors (who do not have access to NFA weapons or parts such as M203 specific)

Does yours look at all purple or greyish in person? From your pictures it looks like a nice black and appears to match the finish of your Colt M4 lower well. Mine is terribly off. My 6920 lower is black and the 203 is purplish gray. I was told they are all purple like the one I got.

I was telling a family member about all the hub-bub of buying a M203, and they looked at me like I was a wacko. "why does anybody need a grenande launcher?" I have to admit, when they put it that way, it does start to sound odd. I tried to explain that nobody was going to be lobbing real grenades at anyone, and that it was the cool factor and what clones were all about. I found myself slipping down the hill with others putting their coffee down to stare at me. "Devon is hanging around people who are going to shoot bombs. I wonder if one of 'those guys is the guy in Austin..' That needs to be illegal.... "

Received my 9" barrel. Noticed the inner diameter is a lot closer to 40mm than 37mm. Anyone else measure the inside of their barrel and find similar results? I don't have prior experience with 37mm firearms so this measurement may be normal, but not what I was expecting. Interested to hear from others regarding the measurements of their Colt barrels as well as other 37mm barrels they may have for comparison.

We've had a whooping total of 2 people call in and make this claim.

We have 1 actual Colt 40mm in our vault and a quick visual comparison of the two barrels is all you need to verify they aren't the same. The 2mm difference is big enough to notice if you have both to compare. The wall thickness prevents a 40mm round from being loaded.

BUT to those types who insist on measuring and reporting their findings, all we have to say is; TRY to get a 40mm round to fit, report back with your results.

Got my 9" barrel the other day. I put it on the FAB Defense FD-203 standalone stock. Took about 10 minutes to put it in the stock. I gotta get some sort of sight for it & then I gotta get some fake HE rounds to go along with it. And then as soon as I get outta Illinois I'm gonna F1 it and put a 40mm barrel on it. We'll see what happens with the chalk rounds because that's a huge part of why I bought it. Worst case, you know, if the transfer fee goes to $60,000 per item and anything I could put in/on it makes me a felon, I guess I could hang in on an M4 and hang it on the wall. In the meantime I suppose I could get some 37mm smoke and signal stuff - although that's just not the same thing. The plan was to eventually get some 40mm chalk/smoke/signal rounds and learn how to reload the chalk rounds. Once I F1 it I was thinking beehive and other interesting AP rounds. Guess we'll see what happens - won't be the first time I've blown $2300 - which is about what I have into it.

I'm glad to hear you got a proper black one. I'm sorry mine is purple too. AU wouldn't take it back and told me they were all like this. Well obviously they aren't, so buyer beware. Mine is a definite purplish grey. I'm going to put it up for sale and wash my hands of this.

If anyone wants a $2,000 purple Colt m203, let me know.

I'd keep it and I think it looks great!
Purple anodizing happens with all MFGs, every now and then. I wouldn't sweat it.

heh heh, lived in Wisconsin for six years. Had a ton of machineguns when I was there - my CLEO had no problems signing for any machinegun I wanted - but, ironically considering this thread, he would never sign for a "destructive device". I walked into his office one day and he said, "hey danbrew, what'cha getting now?" and I told him "a grenade launcher!!" and he says, "no way am I signing for a grenade launcher". So, macht nichts, it wasn't happening in 1996 or so. Too bad, as I had a great line on a DD 203 at the time. But I had plenty of pistol caliber machineguns - which, at the time, ATF and the state pretty much considered the Form 4 to be the actual permission slip. Understand that changed somewhat when I left.

My next move? South Carolina. Can't freaken' wait. Taxes, snow, politicians, laws, etc.

I was also one of the first to order and last to receive my barrels.

Also wasn't too impressed they were shipped in padded envelope in lieu of a cardboard box.

My order # was 91763.
Just got mine he end of last week. Knew it would be a wait though so have no issue at all.

Everything I've ever gotten from AU , I believe , has come in padded USPS envelopes. Receivers, batteries, magazines ... never had any damaged as of now - and there has been quite a bit ..

Is there ryhme or reason to any vendors order #'s and shipping ... ??
Everytime something like this comes up there seems to be some discrepancy as to what order # shipped and when.

I am sorry you feel that way. You both must have ordered multiple M203s and in both barrel lengths, those were the absolute last orders to ship. All the individual orders for 12" shipped first, people who ordered more than one of each shipped afterward, then same thing for the 9" and then finally anyone who ordered one of each or multiples of each shipped.

ALL orders have shipped at this point
