Arms Unlimited has SCW marked lower receivers, and they appear to have a bunch of them. They're selling them in various configurations. One is a railed handguard 10.3" SBR for $1,899. The SCW markings on the lower are cool, but not having the proper upper half is a disappointment. I'm making the assumption that this lower half and upper half combination was put together by Arms Unlimited. They started out with 200 of these a week ago and have only sold six. The gun market is slow right now. If these were in the correct SCW configuration, I think they'd probably sell decently. In this homemade AU configuration, I think they're going to be a hard sell. SCW railed handguard SBR ![]() ![]() They are also offering just the lower half for $1,299. If you buy two or more, you get $10 off of each. :) You can get the receivers as SBR's or title 1, your choice. They don't state whether the SBR receivers are factory registered by Colt or if they're registered by AU. The latter would be lame and I think unlikely, but I don't want to make any assumptions. I ordered my SCW lower Friday morning. Here are some additional photos of the product as it will appear. Attached File Attached File Attached File The magazine well says "SCW Carbine" and the serial number ENDS with an SCW suffix. See the lower receiver in the image above for an example 000360SCW. There were about 800 lower receivers in the shipment. Lower receivers that are SBR lower receivers come from Colt as SBR lower receivers. The others are Title 1 lower receivers. Most of us are familiar with the legacy, early SCW configuration with the 6940-series upper receivers. You will not see those because the M5 upper receiver is an advancement of the 6940 design and the 6940 is pretty much obsolete. Colt seems to only make the 6940-SBR upper receivers on a special-order basis for LE or military requirements. I still see batches of CR6940 16" carbines entering the market through online retailers and Gun Broker. If you want to see more on the M5 design, I have three brief videos that I did on the M5 (Whats in the box, Upper receiver and lower receiver) on my YouTube page. So for those who want SBR's AU is actually doing us collectors a favor by making a few options available. Overall, I'm excited and grateful for this opportunity because I missed the boat when a handful were available around 2016/2017. Who knows if we will ever see this opportunity again. Unfortunately, with my work requirements, packed schedule, shipping timelines, and family events, I probably won't see my lower receiver until around August 22nd or so. Post photos as you get yours. |

To clarify, are you saying that all of the SBR lowers receivers were sent to AU without upper halves and then AU put upper halves on them? Or, are you just referring to the lower halves that they're selling without upper halves? If Colt is shipping the SBR's that AU is selling as complete factory built SBR's, were they sent to AU with the M5 upper halves or something else? |

I am under the assumption these are colt custom order lowers that AU did in order to sell their SCW stocks that they made in contract with colt. 800 were made which goes in par with the apprimate 1000 scw stock sets that were made. These would all be shipped as lowers and AU put them together with the stocks they had left and misc uppers. |

The problem with that is that most everyone who's interested in building a SCW has already purchased the stock. So, they're looking at shelling out a boatload of money just to get the SCW marked receiver and will end up with an extra stock. I'm not surprised that these are not selling well. |

The registered SBRs are the lower number serials, anything over 300 is going to be title1 These likely won't be produced again, and portions of them are going to government, they are for sure one of the rarest AR variants available. The stock system is complicated and difficult to produce |

I picked up my SCW SBR lower today. I submitted the E-Form 4 (Individual) September 6th and got it back approved at 7:42am this morning, September 11th. Three day turn-around time is pretty good. Attached File Some folks have been asking if there are selector-stops on these new lowers. Yes, there are selector stops. Attached File Attached File I need to find my extra Matech buis and get it installed. |

The retainer would prevent the bolt carrier from moving freely. **Note the bold print in red that specifies that the buffer/buffer spring is not retained in the lower receiver. There is not installation of the buffer retainer spring/buffer retainer discussed. The line drawings reflect this as well. Attached File Attached File |

I haven't done anything with the channel in quite awhile. My real job keeps me so busy that its hard to find 'hobby' time anymore. I've sold most of my interesting stuff out of my collection to @aeyoung. I need to try to find some time and do more on my website and channel. |
