I am hoping to use some LAR-8 accessories to upgrade my old BAR-10, and I'd like to know if the parts listed are backward compatible. Does anyone know if parts are a direct swap between the two? Specifically, I'd to know if the following parts fit the BAR-10 with a 16" barrel length:

All will work on your BAR-10.
Once you go to the new carrier group, you'll be fully compatible with all of the current BCG components, and stocks, handguards, etc...will all retrofit as long as you're going LAR-8 pRTA to BAR-10 rifle.. You need ot use whichever length handguard that you have now. If youhave a 16" barrel, thenyou can use any of the mid-length handguards and have them end just behind the gas blobk/front sight. @RRAMODERATOR Is there a set of installation instructions for the aluminum Free Float Tube? The ones that came with the tube apply to handguards with a separate barrel nut, as opposed to a one-piece unit like what I have in hand. It isn't clear how the correct torque on the nut is obtained - the barrel nut wrench for the LAR-8 barrel doesn't fit the free float tube's hole spacing, and it doesn't appear to have clearance next to the upper receiver in any event. Is a strap wrench the tool Rock River had in mind to tighten the barrel nut/free float tube to the upper receiver? Seems a bit sketchy if that's the case, considering what would happen if it were to come loose. Any advice? |

You apparently have a classic if you have one of the one-piece tubes. You want to use a 2.5"+ nylon strap wrench , as cloe to the receiver as possible, for installation. Have the gas tube assembly (gas tube still pinned into the gas block) off and use a punch from the inside of the receiver to verify alignment of the gas tube throughway in the receiver and one of the gas tube through holes in the back of the tube. Always tighten a little more rather than backing it off. Then reinstall the gas assembly and you should be good to go, as ong as you get it back exactly where it was when you started. Thanks.
