I'm not going anywhere, lets get that out of the way. I am slowing things down. I'm cutting back to around 40 hours a week. The last year has been pretty much hell for me It got to the point I could barely walk and my hands turned into claws With about 50% function and excruciating pain in my neck shoulders running down my arms to my hands. Legs got where they felt like lead and I had major issues even getting in my truck. After what seemed like a thousand x rays with no result or indication of problem I was about to pull the pin on a grenade and find out what is next. I met a doctor at the urgent care clinic at the VA hospital that introduced me to dexamethazone.....I LOVE it but it only lasts about three weeks if I'm lucky. Fortunately my referral to an orthopedic surgeon and a neuro surgeon was approved by VA the same week. The ortho guy introduced me to my new friend, gabapentin. 900 mg of it and 800 mg Ibuprofin 3 times a day have made the pain manageable. After a bunch of places refused to do an MRI because of shrapnel in my left arm, I managed to find a place that would do it. Got pics of neck and lower back and got sent for an EMG. Diagnosis, have a disc crushing my sciatic nerve in my lower back on both sides, the ligament that hold the spinal column together is calcifying in my neck and it is trying to fuse itself. Both hands have the worst case of carpal tunnel the neuro surgeon has ever seen in over 20 years of practice. I have had surgery on both hands within the last 40 days, right hand is healed, stitches come out of the left this Friday. Also Had a nerve block epidurally in neck that has been great. Getting the same thing done in lower back this Thursday AM and the neck redone early in April. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!! As I am still a one man shop with a good friend working part time helping me run parts....slowing down means I have to trim expenses. Sadly I have come to the conclusion that I will need to let the industry partnership that I have maintained for many years go t make room for some new and up coming companies that want one, and trim my overhead. As I said at the start, I'm still gonna be in the shop and still answer the phone, and offer as much tech support as I can here. Hate to back off but I am approaching 70 and have simply abused my body for too many years. Need to spend more time with my 96 year old Mom....my autistic grandson, and my wife of 35 years.
