16" Uppers are listed on the AU site, currently OOS, but it shouldn't be too long now. Colt must be doing a run of monolithic uppers, because they have 6940 ,6943, 6944, and 6945 uppers listed as OOS on the AU site as well. Link |

I went back and forth on this. 11.5 suppressed would be pretty nice. Settled on 16" for higher velocity and a longer barrel life. Seems right for a super safe lower. Will prob get the 11.5" later too

I was prepared to drop the original $1,800 list price for one of these, but was happy to see they matched the price of the 11.5". I used the savings to buy a Surefire OBC for it. I guess well see how well it runs.. once I can get my hands on a Arizona Regulator 3-Position. I'm wondering how it'd run with an A5 receiver extension and Geissele rifle length Super 42 spring and carbine buffer with a spacer in the tube... |

What is the benefit of the longer A5 buffer tube if you put a spacer in it? IAR trials showed a H3 weight buffer was helpful in reducing bolt bounce. This recommendation is all over the FRT threads too. |
- I wish it could be both uppers, but I have other projects to fund. (Have $1700-1900) to play with.

They are moving a lot faster than I anticipated as well. They had some number in the high-90s when I got the first in-stock notification. Being a regular non-NFA upper probably increases the appeal. That and 16" ballistically makes a lot more sense than the 11.5" for its intended purpose.  The only thing I can really see is it is far less unwieldy mounting a suppressor, so extended firing with a heavy duty can in a short config? No regrets buying the shorty aside from getting it at the original price but it definitely is an odd duck.

I somehow managed to forget that I got in on the second wave of 11.5 after a long sold-out wait.

| Better get one while you can. Surprised there is any left at this point. Often a reseller scoops up the last remaining dozen or so to sell later on at a much higher price once there is no more available. If you ever thought you or a buddy might want one, better snag one soon. |
