| I can’t remember if this is typical but I have a new production colt carbine, and a loaded steel mag will not seat with the closed bolt. I was pretty forceful with it. Is this typical or a mag issue. |

Have you tried another magazine type, polymer or aluminum? I can't recall having an issue with any Colt I own. I always tap the bottom of mag with the heel of my palm after inserting a loaded magazine and this action ensures it locks-in every time. Maybe down load your steel mag. |

I've yet to run into any brand of mag loaded with 30rds fail to seat in any brand of AR-15. Maybe I've been lucky over the last 45 years. But, I have accidentally loaded 31 and had a couple fail. There were some that you could get that 31st round in there. Count your rounds and see to be sure. I I have read of it happening with 30, and one friend had a mag that he had to download to 29 for a while until the spring set. But that was a 1980s Colt mag. |
