I have some access to some interesting and rare firearms, and I thought it might be fun to do some videos on them and talk about them through the lens of a product designer in the firearms industry. This is mostly a side project I am doing on my own time, and in part I am using it to teach myself Adobe Premiere Pro and also working on filming techniques. I have three videos up so far on our main Manticore Arms youtube channel, and content filmed for maybe a dozen more. Any input would be appreciated! | So the LC lacks the bolt lock position of a standard style Cetme or HK? Does the L version lift and lock normally? I’m guessing that had to be moved or eliminated when they had to put the recoil assembly in the receiver? |

The Cetme L and LC have a square tube for the "gas tube" (the bolt carrier extension that the charging handle shuttle rides in) so there isn't a way for it to rotate (the HK ones are round) As to why they decided to use a square tube and bolt carrier extension, my best guess is it was easier to stamp and machine and may have avoided welding the round tube on top of the bolt carrier, but then it created the issue of not having and easy way to lock the carrier back, so they had to add in the goofy bolt hold open in about the most unergonomic location you could find! I would love to have been a fly on the wall to see why they went with square instead of round, and how that turned into a weird downstream effect on the whole design. Sven Manticore Arms |

Cool, thanks for the answer, and also a reason I will probably never own an L, although I’ve thought about it a lot. Any chance you are going to do an M+M version of the AK review? |
