| Just got home with my NIB Colt LE6920 SOCOM. I purchased from Guns2U.com. The rifle looks perfect. Upper to lower fitment is snug. But what pleased me most was the fact the upper receiver had Colt's cage code embossed. Been reading for years from people who's Colts do not have the cage markings on the upper receiver. Did I just get lucky or is Colt now marking their cage codes on all their uppers? Cage code also on the charging handle too. Dot matrix C on the bolt carrier and a very deep and prominent "MPC" marking on the bolt itself. I've never seen a colt bolt so strongly marked. |

Sounds like standard markings for the Socom model. Colt can be all over the place with some of the markings they send out at times, but they can be pretty consistent on certain models. Can you get a general idea of when your rifle was made? You might see a month and year code on the barrel, which could give you a general idea, and I always look for the date code on the plastic bag the rifle comes packed in. I think they stamp them with the date the rifle was "preserved" or prepared for shipment/storage soon after assembly. If the date on the accessories bag is pretty close to the rifle bag, I consider that an additional bonus. I'm just wondering if they made a new batch, or you happened to come across some new old stock. |
