As of today PSA has had my BCG for a month. Hopefully a fix is in the works as I'm ready to get back to the range.

Shot today with an alg trigger and 4-12 scope. Cheap ammo 1moa all day long. Mag drags when hand cycling but gun ran flawless all day. The mags wear it in just barely rubbing. Bulgarian mags are great no rub Steel no problem. Magpul is the only culprit of magazine rub on my setup nothing 20rd or a light file won't fix.
Stay away from Korean junk they don't even run in the real ak. Today was a shoot out of hybrids. Sig 556R RRA liar or whatever it is and ks47 RRA ANS KS 47 drove awesome groups the KS is very heavily gassed and recoil vs the RRA |
|
|
I'm running the PSA Hbar mid setup with the mlok rail. Fiochi ammo gave the best groups followed by hornadythe worst was brown bear but was still at or just over 1 moa. It dance all around the edge of the bullseye and inside. Haven't received any golden tiger yet.

Well, my lower is at the engraver's and and I have two stripped uppers and BCGs on hand.
Next will be Cerakote and ordering the 11" barrel. Should have mine running in 2-3 weeks, just in time for our suppressor and full auto shoot. Getting pretty excited! Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I did have the same magazine issues that everybody else mentioned; bolt carrier catching on new mags and FTE/FTF when resting the gun on the magazine. I fixed the first issue by hitting a stack of magazines with a dremel to speed up that breaking in process. I fixed the second issue by 3D printing a little plastic piece that keeps Magpul magazines from inserting any further into the lower receiver than they need to. I printed out a handful of these for like $0.04 each and rubberbanded them to the magazines and now i have no issue resting the gun on them if I want to. http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh583/giantpune/ks47_magpul_block_zpseqmajxan.png So once the magazine issues were taken care of, it was smooth sailing. The KS-47 feel like it has more recoil and balls than my 300 blackout pistol which I liked. The ammo is 1/2 the price (or less) than the .300, which I also liked. I had my PSAK-47 GB2 out there beside and ran them side by side. For me, shooting the KS-47 was more comfortable because it doesn't feel as heavy as the AK and I like the feel of the AR-style trigger VS the AK. A bit off topic but any thoughts on optimal barrel length for a SBR KS-47? I put 12.5 on my form 1 but am rethinking it while I wait. I'm leaning more towards 11.5 but just not sure. IIRC you can change the send the ATF a courtesy letter if you want to in regards to barrel length. My stamp should be back sometime in November.
|
|
|
Optimum what? Ive seen a few SBR/pistol in 7.62x39. They all shoot a bunch of powder out the muzzle and create a huge concussion and fireball. If you're wanting optimum fireball, shorter is better. For optimum bullet speed, the internet says that 7.62x39 (brown bear, 123gr HP) had the highest muzzle velocity out of a 23 inch barrel.

There was a video posted in this thread I believe of a guy using a standard upper. Then there's these guys . They say it may work with other lowers. I was gonna try it out till I picked up the pistol kit for 400 bucks lol https://billet80.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=76&product_id=122#container |

Hi all, my KS47 was having rounds get stuck between my mag feed lips and feed ramp. The round would hit the top of the chamber before it fully released from the mag and jam. So I took out the Dremel and re profiled the feed ramp. I ground and rounded the center lug of the feed ramp giving room for the bigger bullet and cartridge to properly feed at a less sever angle. Now my cheapy bulgarian commercial 40 round mags and Croatian steel 30 rounders feed flawlessly and no more FTFs. So if you are getting FTFs or FTEs you may consider looking at the feed ramps that are cut for 5.56 rounds and using a Dremel to round out and lower the angle of the center feed ramp lug and widen the feed ramps to accommodate the profile of the larger 7.62x39 round.

2 quick questions...
Does this lower have a bolt catch? Does PSA make an upper with a mid weight (not heavy) profile and mlok handguards? |

Barrels are "standard" 7.62x39 AR barrels for a .125" bolt face depth. Colt's 7.62x39 bolts and barrels were .136" depth, later used for 6.5G. Nothing special for KS47 as the PSA bolt is .125" depth. I wish ARP would sell their 750 XD bolts and extensions or PSA would produce their own copy to make the system stronger. Time will tell... |

Got the gas block set the other night.
18" fireball with the ASR brake! Rifle ejects empties at 4 o'clock unsuppressed and 3 o'clock suppressed. Had three light primer hits so I swapped out the JP springs for new mil-spec springs. No other malfunctions. We'll see how it runs tomorrow... -Lee |

As it appears PSA reads this forum, I want to give you the perspective of a potential new customer:
I've been interested in building a KS-47 since seeing it featured on a prominent YouTube gun channel a few months ago. Unfortunately, with the mounting bolt and magazine issues, I just can't justify the purchase at this time. I was literally with credit card in hand yesterday ready to make a purchase, but decided against it at the last second; in no small part due to the negative user experiences documented on this forum. The platform appears to have great potential; but a potential not yet fully realized due to the issues still plaguing it. Hopefully, the design flaws and suggestions for correcting them offered on this forum and elsewhere will spur PSA to fix the problems (all new KS-47 for 2017, perhaps?). Fortunately, there's not much competition in this particular configuration (for now, anyway), so I'm hopeful I will become a proud KS-47 owner in the near future if PSA steps up to the plate to fix what's broken. |

A few hundred rounds later the 11" KS47 is still trouble-free with every mag and ammo combination tried, both unsuppressed and suppressed.
Hearing-safe and the same length as a 16" carbine is pretty cool. |

Anyone brave enough to try the mags PSA has on sale for blk friday?
as others have said... pmags rub, nothing serious just for some additional info, mine do not rub from pressure on the front of the mag as if you were gripping the mag... but could be some serious issues if pressure was being put on the rear of the mag fwd.. |
